Good luck Londonguy with B2B. sf-wink
I decided to stay with Manulife @ 3.10% until Jan 21 2020. sf-cool

FWIW I'm not switching anything over and I still have big chunks at Manulife and DUCA. Just turns out that I have a sizeable inflow coming my way very soon, and IMO it wouldn't hurt to spread it around elsewhere. That said, B2B's 3.30% offer is better than the 2.75% Tangerine is currently waving in my face

Unfortunately, I was advised that joint accounts are not possible for the 3.30% HISA.

The B2B bank application process has apparently "gone down" (not functioning properly) so perhaps Londonguy was lucky when he did application.
The agent told me they are having lots of issues/non functionality.
For sure Tangerine and Manulife are superior websites. Rates are not the sole reason to choose an FI.

I just opened a HISA online -- very easy, only took about 10 minutes. It's the usual routine, i.e. you enter your personal data and navigate past their Equifax credit file quiz page, then agree to their terms and the account is effectively open.

When I exited the online application the site prompted me to sign in for the first time, and then it immediately directed me to the external link setup page (handy), which I completed. Once the micro-deposit pings come through to my intended source account in a day or two, I'll be good to go. Online account openings don't get much faster than that.

I realize I've been 100% interfacing with a bot but they get 10 out of 10 from me so far

Did they do a hard credit check?

I must be the luckiest guy west of the Ottawa River then, because I just signed in to B2B a few minutes ago no problem to confirm the microdeposit amounts that showed up in my external account today. I completed the confirm to activate the link and then moved $100 over to B2B as a test of their transfer speed on a pull.

I will say that navigating their site is a bit tricky because there's a lack of overt directions. For example, there was no "confirm" button for any o/s microdeposits, instead I just randomly clicked on external links again as if I wanted to add another link and it magically presented itself. Also, to do anything useful you need to click on the 3 little bars in the top left corner of the home page to get the sidebar menu to appear, and then there's no "transfer" option on it -- instead there's a yellow "quick transfer" tab on the far right of your account status page that pulls up a different sidebar where you can fill in the details of what you want to do.

It all works once you know where to click, but things are not where I would expect them to be

Not impressed so far from what posters say.
Wonder how long the promo rate will last and what is the normal rate.

Yes - a friend in the business said that appears to be one of the problems. He also told me they think the volume of applications may have thrown the system. The system apparently works hit and miss.

Tried three times to open an account between 7pm and 8pm tonight.

First the interface doesn't allow (Chrome and IE) to copy/paste or even just paste. Not a good approach to encourage complex passwords.

Second, after entering all my personal info, it just displayed "error" when trying to reach Equifax. No retries, just back to the beginning and filling all over again.

Not very welcoming...

I tried three times using different browser I think it's safe to say this an issue with there portal I don't know about all of you I will have to pass on this bank first impression is important with anything really.

Do you guys feel safe putting your money with a bank that can't even get people registering right and it's taking them couple of days to fix this issue. Can you imagine all the security flaw they have in there system this is a type of bank we will hear about getting breached. No thanks I will pass on this bank I hope you all do the same and not get burned in the future for a teaser rate which mark my word will drop to earth very quickly.

The cdic limit is only 100K but for those fortunate enough that have 100K and over it's not assuring I even went to the extent of calling them to inform them about the site issue and they confirm they are aware of the issue to be honest I wish you all the best with this bank but I have a bad feeling about this bank

I called them a couple of days ago, they're aware of the Equifax problem and are working to fix it. He said try again in a couple of days, I tried last night and same "error".

I called Equifax (1.866.828.5961 worked for me) and asked why there was a flag on my account (I assumed it was from the People Trust data breach some years ago) and they told me I reported a lost wallet in 2013. That's a lie, I never did, never lost my wallet. Anyway I asked her to remove the flag and she did, apparently it takes up to 48 business hours.

You're lucky IMO. I recently got the notification from CapitalOne that I was included in their data breach, and when I went to sign up for the free credit protection services they're offering, my registration kept getting rejected until it was discovered that TransUnion has had my surname wrong for over 20 years. I should add that this "personal information discrepancy" in my credit file apparently hasn't prevented me from obtaining several credit cards, obtaining and renewing several mortgages, and opening numerous bank accounts during that time.

TU said it will take 30 days to correct the record after I provide them with written proof of who I am, which will then allow me to register for their credit protection services. That left me thinking, wow, it's a good thing their bulletproof system security was able to prevent me from "fraudulently" signing up for that HAHAHA while everything else financial in my life since the late 1990s just sailed right past. It makes a guy think that the whole credit bureau business is seriously dysfunctional.

I have no doubt that it IS dysfunctional. It's a business, nothing more.
Has it occurred to you that after you get your name changed to the right one, this could mess up your profile for future account openings etc.? I mean, the real YOU doesn't have a credit history according to TU...sf-frown

Although the credit bureau business may be dysfunctional, this is actually evidence of a component that is working as intended.

In your file, they have other reported names that match for you. Your real name would be in there and every application you made found the appropriate file since you matched on one of the other reported names.

All they are doing is flipping which name is the correct name. Before they do that, they want some verification that this is legit. Sounds reasonable to me.

In my file, as viewed through Credit Karma, they have a misspelling of my name as one of my reported names. It probably comes from back in the day when forms were hand written and someone typed it in wrong.

Fair enough, but this is turning into a bigger deal to me than you might think.

While my TU file may indeed show my real name elsewhere in an AKA field (which perhaps explains how the error didn't obstruct my obtaining conventional credit), I'm definitely feeling some impact now, because I am unable to gain online access to my TransUnion file since the personal information I enter to register for the service did/does not agree with their incorrect data. That in turn is now preventing me from accessing the real-time credit protection service that CapitalOne is supposed to be providing me through TU as a victim of their data breach. And now that TU has suspended my file, I've also been advised not to apply for credit anywhere until the issue is resolved.

They know who I am, they've verified every last piece of information in my file with me by phone, they're aware of the online access problem and what's causing it, but they won't do anything to fix it until they receive acceptable new written documentation from me showing my correct name. Since they won't commit to anything less than 30 days for taking action, I have no choice but to twist in the wind until such time as either they process the correction or reject my submitted proof and force me to start all over again.

As you may have guessed, I'm not very happy about it.

Based on some insightful commentary I've received from people who work in the biz, this is most likely a case of somebody transposing my surname with that of my wife many, many years ago. So I exist all right, but TransUnion effectively invented an alias for me that incorporates her last name instead of my own. Apparently I've been getting along all these years by virtue of everything else I've entered on credit applications matching 100%, e.g. DOB, SIN, etc.

First thing I'm going to do once my TU file gets released is check it for other errors. If I've learned anything so far from this exercise, it's that the risk of the credit bureau itself screwing up your file is a lot more likely than anybody misusing my stolen CapitalOne information.
