My promotional 2.5% rate also ended July 30. I called Tang today and was told there were no offers available for me. Thus at 0.2% as their current rate, the vast majority of my funds at Tang will be moving elsewhere immediately.

Are you sure you are getting the promotional rate on the full balance? Might they interpret the $50K you put in as 'old money' before you got the new rate?

Sounds pretty par for the course. Talk to different CSR's....get different answers. Given up calling and begging for a rate. Talk with my funds...they will be out of Tang the day after the current promo ends (Aug 31) and the bonus interest is deposited (Sep 1). If 1.8 is the best they will do...it won't be coming back.

Don't forget, you can always sign in and go to your promos area to verify the terms of your promo. Last time mine showed up pretty much within a minute or so after I accepted.

Just asked for an offer and got the 1.8% on all the money but on saving account only for 150 days. I had a balance of 0 when I asked. Got it through the chat. Took 5 minutes.  

Slybanking, how do you manage to access a human via their chat? When I click on the chat symbol all I get is highly irritating and useless AI "Chatbot". On their contact page it does say "you can log in to chat with us and get answers to more specific questions about your Account(s)." but darned if when logged in I ever get a human agent through their chat function, even if I specify I want to chat with a human.

Thanks Slybanking. They sure hide that away. Why not have that service linked to their chat symbol?? Too logical?

Its people like us who are not the majority. It seems most people love the "thrill of the chase" with mindset nothing worthwhile comes easy. It's like shopping at Costco and their weekly "Treasure Hunt" offers which aren't shown in their weekly flyer. Costco has said many times people love to browse in the store and look for "hidden deals". This hasn't changed during the pandemic either.

I hate it when they lie. They twist things around and say we're only offering this to you after you finally reach someone in their "loyalty" section.

I still have my great-grandfather's sturdy but somewhat battered metal cash box. He was an Ontario farmer and local politician, and I'm not sure if he ever dealt with a bank. The land records show mortgages held by various individuals, not banks. He lived 1850-1915.
I keep the box as a remembrance of an earlier time when things were done differently, income tax didn't exist, and nobody needed to know your business.
Eventually I'll give it to a museum, along with some of his meticulous financial records. Every penny was accounted for, literally. I think I must take after him!

Anyhow, why not give us the blog lady's URL? It's possible there will be similar deals elsewhere, although i know merchandise can differ significantly from store to store, even in the same city.

I just logged in to my Tangerine savings account and saw a targeted offer of 2.8% for new deposits that expires Aug 31. I wish I had seen this sooner, the offer indicates that this started April 3. I will transfer from EQ to Tangerine and see what happens come Sept. 1

I logged in to my wife's Tangerine account and there is no special offer.
