… I had a feeling the preceding post is meant for the other thread … the one about customer service 🙂

Nonetheless there's no stopping to their talkings, long after they close their relationship with Tangerine, for as long as Tangerine is still in business!

Just curious: Tangerine's been around 12 years now. Has anyone getting these nice offers been a long-time customer, since day one pretty much? I'm just wondering if that could be a factor in who gets and doesn't get these offers.

Issue has been discussed before. The consensus is that it is random, no rhyme nor reason. That's why it's call a lottery.

COIN, the consensus here has not been proven to be correct. And you may call it a lottery, I don't. To me a lottery is random, my belief is there's some logic behind the algorithm that decides not only who gets a Tangerine offer and who doesn't but also who gets what promo rate in the former group.

If you can point me to where on here we've previously discussed the length of being a Tangerine client as a factor in their issuance of promo offers I'd appreciate it.

I was an ING client, and then Tangerine, from about 2001. Never got an offer, though after I started reading about their offers here on CHISA I got a few lowball offers by calling in and being persistent.

One has to call and indicate that one is interested in their unofficial offers. After that, it is better to wait for an offer than calling in.

The Tangerine offers I received by calling in were never as good as ones people reported here and received without calling.

We started with ING more than 20 years ago, methinks
We were receiving steady promo offers from Tangerine, until the last year, when they slowed to a trickle
I actually thought they had come to a full stop- but we each got one over the last 2 months.
I have never called in to ask for a rate
Pretty much always accepted anything they offered-- which have basically been very good
A couple of times, I have called in to transfer out all the funds in an account, and they asked why, and I told them because the promo was over
I think they may have offered something then, but it wasn't near enough to interest me

I don't remember if this was mentioned before. Folks who don't receiving promo offers, are you set to receive marketing and promo offers in your online banking profiles?

BlueSky, where in the Profile am I looking? I see nowhere where you turn on or off promo offers. I do see how you prefer to receive Marketing Communications, is that what you're talking about?

Thanks, BlueSky, yes, I have that set.

In all my years of promos never once got one via email, every single one of many has been via Insights when I sign in. They tapered off in 2024 and 2025, nothing at all since September or so one ended. That's cool, they finally figured out I'm only there for the promos, I don't blame them at all.

Is it possible to deposit funds by way of a cheque directly to the Tang savings account at the ATM? Or, does one has to deposit the cheque to the chequing account and then request a transfer to savings ?

Another question: Does Tang have a physical office? I know they had and maybe still have an office on Yonge Street.

There is no need to request [Tangerine] to transfer.

To deposit funds to Tangerine Savings at the ATM:

1) Deposit cheque into Chequing account at ATM
2) The hold is 5 business days, all FIs have a hold period so nothing to criticize about
3) After 5 business days, login to online banking and transfer funds from chequing to savings

Unfortunately, Tangerine will not allow to deposit into Savings Account direct. Simpli Financial on the other hand permits direct deposit to Savings
