It's true some people get "their knickers in a knot" about little things - including complaining about other people's assessment of what are significant changes.
One person on this forum even spends his time periodically complaining about how other people spend their time!

Lighten up!

I think some people here think their complaining can affect fi policy, the complainer-in-chief here has repeatedly expressed that sense of their own power. And maybe they can, i.e. if I, as head of an fi, knew the small tribe of the most extreme of rate chasers wanted something I'd be sure not to implement it to ensure their business stayed far away, keep them a drag on my competitors.

So, who do you figure is the "complainer-in-chief" whom you imagine hopes to influence corporate policy in this way?

Just my little fun guessing game for everyone on a slow Saturday morning, everyone's free to fill in the blank as they see it, Loonie.

Actually you were first: Who's the person you indicate spends his time periodically complaining about how others spend their time, I've not noticed anyone doing that?

I am OK with Hubert no longer providing Sunday support. Having said that, I had talked to a CSR a few days ago to set my 1 year GICs not to renew today, but redeem them to my saving accounts - so I can book new 1 year GICs at a higher rate. Well, the existing GICs have not been redeemed today, as agreed with the CSR, they are continuing to earn me roughly half of the interest which they would have, for the next 3 months. If the Sunday support was still here, I guess that this would have been resolved during a friendly phone call. I will be out of the country for about 5 weeks, so I doubt that I can fix this issue any time soon.

It may auto-correct tomorrow; I think that's likely. If not, email them to remind them of the agreement.

This would not be a problem if I was at home. I do not know if I will be able to login from abroad (no roaming from my mobile provider). If their 2 step authentication uses email, I am good. If it uses mobile, that's it.

If you told them to transfer it to your savings after the interest gets credited on Sunday, they will most likely do for you like they did for me, by adding it to your savings on Monday, but backdating it to Sunday's date. Don't worry.

Send them an email today, then, while you have internet access.

Tank you BK and Loonie. I have realized that I can call them from a different phone number (as I will buy a european sim card) and sort this out sometime next week.

Don't wait too long. Even backdating has its limit.
Call them (if you can) and explain situation. BUT! Open date of GIC will NOT and cannot be backdated! Only deposit to your HISA/GIC account. Had exactly the same issue over the long weekend.
If you want GIC to start today, open one right now and then they will redeem your GIC, deposit to HISA, backdate it to Sunday and you will deposit it to new GIC and they will backdate deposit to today.

Two CSA provided me with the incorrect advise; they said I do not have to open GIC on Saturday as on Monday they will redeem and backdate opened GIC on Monday and deposit. But 3rd agent on Monday (great Kayla!) provided clarification in Writing. So either these first 2 agent (did not recognized their names) were not properly trained (new hires) or merging companies provided untrained staff.

I think that there is more discretion in back-dating. Here is my situation:

I opened some GIC on June 9. First quarter to end on Sept 9. I had one TFSA acct due to mature July 9. I asked the CSR if I could open a TFSA acct June 9, but not fund it until July 9, because I wanted to have the same maturity date for all my GICs. She said that they do sweeps every Mon-Tues and automatically close GICs that have not been funded. However, she told me that she could back-date a GIC opened on July 9 to June 9.

I did exactly that, today. Unfortunately, the quarterly rate on June 9 was 3.10% and the current rate is 3.60% So, we cancelled the GIC and re-purchased a new TFSA GIC for 3.60% with today's date.

Looks like Saturday support is not long for this world.
Noticed this on the chat popup and the contact page doesn't list Saturday at all anymore:
"Saturday: 8:30 am – 4:00 pm (Until June 25, 2023)"

Another casualty of the merger, I presume.

Sunday Support has been gone for quite some time now, shortly after the merger actually began. But I just checked the Hubert web site and I do not see your "Saturdays until June 25" reference - the general Support Contact screen and the Chat screen both show availability Mon-Sat.

Shrug, showing Mon-Fri on contact page for me, and Sat until June 25 on Chat popup for me. Also the chat link on the contact page goes to an old invalid link.
