I just contacted them this morning on chat as my promo (1.7%) ends tonight.All I was able to get was 1.2% on existing funds (unregistered account only) for 150 days.
I'm in QC if that changes anything.
Tangerine offers for the entire balance are often lower. Tangerine gave me a targeted new money offer before. Unfortunately, my balance was already high. I called and they were able to swap it for a slightly lower entire-balance offer.
My 1.7% new-money offer ended yesterday with no followup offer. I've emptied my account. Tangerine may offer a targeted new funds offer at the start of next month (April). They did in April 2019 and in April 2020.

My current new money offer with Tangerine ends on March 31st. My money will leave Tang before that.
I also expect to see new Tangerine offer in April, and if not - I'll keep my money elsewhere.

If Tang does the usual thing, there is no need to move money out of Tang. Simply put the vast bulk of savings into your chequing account several days before your promo rate is to end - there it does not seem to be counted when they add up what you have in your accounts. Then if you get a better rate, move the money back to savings, where it is again counted as 'new' money.
Alas, what I have in US savings does need to be transferred out, as I do not have a US chequing account with Tang.

Called Tang today to see if they would offer any retention rate as my current offer (2%) offer ends on 31.03.
CSR told me to call on 31.03 as they have no new promotions yet but they might know more on 31st. Asked again about retention rate; she said it might be about 1.1-1.2%. It looks like she did know what 'retention rate' is. Will try again on Monday and if nothing reasonable comes of it, money goes out...
On their site they offer 'Lock in your savings at 0.65% for 1 year*'. What a joke...

Called in earlier in the week-- in the same boat, promo expires Mar 31
The first response was: no offer at all
After pressing slightly, csr offered 1.1% on existing balance
Unfortunately for us, that would not apply to the US$ account
So, the money will be leaving Tang shortly

Same here. Called on Monday... They offered 'special department' to call me back with the potential offer. Told them to call me same day or money go out. Could no do it. So - out.
It looks like CSR is not familiar with terms 'push' and 'pull' money from account. Whatever...
Let see if they have 'Spring' promotion which could come next week.

Tangerine booted me as a client! Smart people have their smokeable purchases tied to the 2% category.. I really don't think they like that LOL.. I also had a nsf fee compd and i don't think they liked that either lol
