Got offered 3.5%. I can’t be bothered as I have better offers elsewhere, so I declined. Perhaps on the next round they’ll not be so tight fisted.

In general, I wonder if one were to call in and tell the CSR that one would like a higher rate (given the variance observed here) and that they’d be willing to defund their account to go elsewhere, whether that’d get one an improved rate?

I called Simplii today, the CSR said she can NOT change my offer rate 3.5% to a better rate 5.25%, Simplii system sent out the offer information.
I have not accepted that 3.5%, any bank's rates are about 3.5% now for all customers.

I got an email offering 5.25% till the end of Feb but can’t accept it. Their app shows the offer but won’t let me click on it. Guess that's what they call a “teaser rate”.

I received the same offer and had trouble with the link. I called and talked with a CSR and they were able to activate the offer for me. The CSR said that other customers were having the same problem.

Funny, got an offer, it's in My Offers, but it doesn't do anything when I click on it.

My hubby and I also could not click on the offer. I did call customer service and they did it for me immediately with not too long of a wait on hold.
Nice little bonus! I got 5.25 and the hubby only got 3.5 though, so he wasn't as thrilled. LOLsf-wink

I got the 4% offer via email. When I followed the instructions and logged in using their link there was no offer. Previous offer had the same dead end so I did not follow up as there were other options elsewhere.
This time I tried chat, what a joke as virtual assistant misinterpreted almost everything I typed and then transfered me to live agent chat that said nobody available now.
I then called and was told there was a 15 minute wait so declined call back and passed, at least for now.
There always seems to be a glitch with Simplii and I don't think it's due to incompetence unless the virtual assistant chatbot is also the lead strategist for their promos( to lower operating costs to provide no fee banking of course).
From promo email offers that lead nowhere to virtual chatbots that tell me offer is only for new clients then suggests and transfers to live chat which is a dead end, to (relatively short perhaps compared to some others) long wait times for telephone banking, as well as the apprehension of never being sure if they will make good on their offer when it ends because you cannot see your promo rate in effect while logged into online banking, it seems to me to be by design as it never gets fixed.
Is it good business sense to annoy your existing customers with the same issues repeatedly ? It must be or they'd be long gone.
That said I will need to call them at some point because I pushed some funds in after reading the email so I have to follow though at this point.

Simplii has some technical issues, when I used online Chat with Live Agents, for somehow, ENTER key or SEND key does not work. I do not know what happened, I guess I typed special symbols, such as: %.
But Simplii never made a mistake on my money or earned interest since I had accounts with them. I trust Simplii and CIBC. For CIBC, in case, I requested credits with good reasons, they always gave me credits. TD DI is good too, they do not charge a fee or interest if you have a good reason for it.

Be interested to hear down the line from those who didn't accept their low (3.5%) offer if they get excluded from future offers. Or else maybe they get better offers because they're perceived as hard to get. Let us know.

I got 4.25%, wife got 3.5% but she accepted anyway, likely not use it.

I read your post again. My reply was in reference to past promo. I passed on it and I still received the latest promo. Last promo was in the middle of the range as this one also seems to be.

Yes, I'm struggling with that same strategy decision, Bill
I accepted my 4.0% offer, and have done nothing--i.e., neither decline or accept-- to this point with wife's 3.5% offer
So, is she more (or less?) likely to get another offer if we:
a)accept
b)decline
c) ignore
Stay tuned. (How exciting can this get?)

I called Simplii but I did not say anything if I will accept/decline/ignore my current 3.5% offer, I just requested a better offer 5.25%. The CSR replied " Wait for the next offer after this offer ended on Feb 28, 2025."

Always move your money out before the last day of a rate offer, from your Simplii account, Simplii always did this kind of trick.

I pulled my Simplii funds from Tang side early on November 14, which sets it up to be pulled early on November 15. However, Simplii decided to enter the withdrawal on November 18! Today they sent me this offer for 5.25% hoping I would bite without reading the offer T's and C's. Yes, they are really tricky.

Question, moved money out of Simplii HISA to chequing early morning November 15th to have it set up to be transferred to another bank. Does this mean it won't count as new money now? or do they go by the closing balance at midnight on the 15th. Thanks.

Thanks, Oscar, good to know.

My guess is accepting, declining or no answer will not yet affect future promo offers because Simplii is new at this Tangerine-style lottery promo stuff so they haven't yet developed personal profiles of our behaviours but at some point they (or their AI) will probably know exactly the minimum offer each of us will respond to in the way they want.

I hate it when someone knows (before I do) what I'm going to do!

Tangerine: You place a" Move In" transaction, the transaction will be processed around 1: 30 am ( I guess) on next business day. You did Move In in Tangerine on Nov 14, it was processed around 1: 30 am Nov 15.
Simplii: processes transactions including inter-transfer between Simplii accounts, on weekends, however, the Transaction Date is Monday, next business day.
Normally, Tangerine takes money from Simplii around 1;00 am ( I guess) next day even it is a weekend, money is actually taken on Saturday from Simplii but Transaction Date was on Monday Nov 18.

I am not sure if Simplii's Term and Conditions for rate offers, are same or not for everyone, everytime.
One time, I asked Simplii CSR, I was told that transferring a fund from Chequing account to HISA, considers as New Deposit, eligible for promotional rate. I did in this way, got promotional interests for the fund from my Chequing.
You need to read your Term and Conditions of your offer.

I am not sure about closing balance, when is the cut off time.
To be safe, always move out your money early, do not wait till the last day.

It's true if you do a pull from Tang, it moves the next business day after midnight. So you would have to pull from Tang Nov 13, which means it moves Nov 14, and the clears Simplii Nov 15.
Since Simplii is targeting new customers, one would assume a lot of them are going to get burned with this one, and missed the balance back-dating on the offer. It's a sleazy practice, as the offer starts Nov 19, but the balance is taken from Nov 15. Why?
Because the people working at Simplii decided to get into this game of tricky offers, and some people will get burned for a month until they see they don't get the bonus interest. And Simplii makes more profit for one month.
But at least they will know after a month, not like Simplii's offers before, where you might not know you got burned until after the offer was done.
But if you want to know your end of day balance on Nov 15, it's best to contact them to be certain.

I am wondering what the interest payments look like. Simplii needs to pay the expired promotion interests ending on November 15, plus the new promotion interests in November. Are they going to pay separately for the two different promotions or just one payment?
