Don't know if anyone else has noticed but a couple of days ago after Oaken decreased their GIC rates, they started advertising "Newly increased rates".

The ads are popping up everywhere when I am on-line.sf-surprised

.
I don't see any such ads when I'm on their site (https://www.oaken.com/), but I have an ad-blocker on.

I take it, this is new for Oaken. Are those ads false, or misleading?

I can't seem to get rid of pop up ads since I switched to Windows 11 about a year ago.
Didn't get them at all with Windows 10.

I had Windows 10 Pro and when I went to purchase a new computer a year ago, they "advertised" the one I wanted came with windows 11 pro. Went into town and of course that model wasn't available. I let him talk me into getting another model but it didn't include the pro. Unsure if it would have made any difference.

The Oaken ads pop up on many sites, even this one. They just say "Our GIC rates have increased" or The Best GIC rates available. You click on it and Oaken gives you their true rates as they stand. They especially advertise their 2 year rate @3.65%. Don't mind that so much as when just after they decreased all their rates they advertise Our GIC rates have increased.

FWIW . . .

    - My desktop is just operating on the standard 'Widows 11 Home'.
    - I'm using Google Chrome's ad-blocker.

For instance, right now on this site I have Chev truck ads, home depot, single senior cruises (ha, ha) and Scotia Bank. After awhile you get so used to them they are hardly noticeable.

What is your ad blocker called?

FWIW, on my laptop, I use Firefox as my primary browser and I use uBlockOrigin as my ad blocker. I use Chrome as my secondary browser and use Adblock Plus as my ad blocker.

I have zero ads and popups.

It's part of the features/settings on Chrome.

Exactly the same here, except my secondary browser is Opera with AdGuard Adblocker. I also never see ads. I do have Chrome and Edge on my computers, but never use them.

My memory's not as sharp as it used to be. Also, my memory's not as
