Just signed up for the new advantage account promo(my 7th). Interest rate on the new account is showing 1.5%, like the other 6. It has always shown the promo rate in account details, but not this time. Anyone else signed up?

Same here, saying 1.5% even though when going through the account opening process it said would be 3.0% for two years. I'm hoping that when it's funded it will apply the bonus interest.

I just phoned their customer service & they confirmed that the account is 3.0% for two years. The rep seemed a little clueless & put me on hold for 5 minutes. I'd advise anyone to confirm with Manulife that their new account is a promo.

Markus - is the 3% rate now reflected in account details?

Interesting - I phoned in - I told the agent details show 1.5% not 3% after funding the account and I remember clearly in the past detail did show the promo rate immediately. He said I was wrong that it always only showed the base rate 1.5%. Something is definitely strange here.

1) the 3% is still not showing in the details, plus I never received a confirmation email with the promotion details, which I have always gotten after I have opened a promo advantage account.
2) the fool you talked to on the phone is wrong when he said it has always shown just the base rate. It has always shown the base rate, plus the promo extra rate.

I only put in a $1000 until I see if they pay out the 3% August 1st.

Yes, in the past the promotional rate did show in the account's details on the online banking site.

There could be a delay as their online site catches up. Previous promotional rates were also visible on the Advantage Account product page. Right now, the page just mentions the regular 1.5% rate and has no mention of the 3% promotion.

My gut feeling it "likely" will get fixed - the fellow I spoke to said "you will see the 3% in the details on August 1". If I do not see it, I will phone in to follow up."
Every FI promo I have had in the past whether at Manulife or elsewhere has shown the base rate + the bonus, either separately or combined.

I don't see that on their bank accounts page. The text in the tile still says 1.5%:

Advantage Account
A high-interest savings account that pays
a high rate of interest on every dollar
and includes all the banking features you
expect

1.50%
on every dollar1

High interest rate

Looks like their site is not fully updated yet for the offer.

"Looks like their site is not fully updated yet for the offer."

If you click on the "open an account" box on the 1.5% offer it will bring you to the 3% offer page.

I see the offer there on the account opening page:

Limited time offer
Limited time offer: Earn 3.00%* for 2 years when you open an Advantage Account. Enjoy the benefits of a high interest savings account with the flexibility of a chequing account.

So, there's a public path to the offer and not some path for certain targeted clients.

The bank has done the Advantage account marketing campaign for their advisors channel.

No campaign for their direct consumer channel yet.

I already have an Advantage Account that pays 1.5%. Can a client open a second account that pays 3% and transfer money from their original account into a new advantage account to earn the 3%?

From the terms and conditions,

Manulife Bank will pay the Promotional Interest on Net New Deposits made during the Promotional Period...

Net New Deposits are funds from an external source and cannot be transferred from an existing Manulife Bank account. All funds held by the client in existing Manulife Bank account(s) on July 1, 2026, will not count as Eligible Deposits.

Yes, one can open a second new Advantage account to qualify for the 3% offer. I opened another account for a similar offer and received the promotion rate in the new account.

Don't transfer funds from another Advantage account to the new one. Don't move any funds through an existing Advantage account to the new one. It won't work.

If one has direct deposits to an existing Advantage account, then one needs to change the direct deposits to go to the new account.

Any sign in the account details?

Manulife Bank has updated the rest of their site. I see the offer now on their personal bank accounts page:

a high rate of interest on every dollar
and includes all the banking features you
expect

3.00%
on every dollar*

Thanks Norman and Jorno
However, since you opened a new account to qualify for the 3% offer, can you slowly transfer what you have in your original advantage account to another financial institution? Or does Manulife keep track of all your funds thereby disallowing the 3% in your new second account once you transfer your funds from your first account?

In the past they've always taken a snapshot of your entire balance on a certain date and that amount is not eligible for the promotional offer. If you move the preexisting funds out to another institution it doesn't change the amount that's ineligible for the promotional offer. So for example: you had $1000 in your old account originally that's ineligible for the promo. You then move it out to another bank. Afterwards you deposit $100,000 into the new account, only $99,000 earns the promotional interest.
