Ideal is usually prompt in posting interest deposits on the first of the month. However, today my account shows no interest deposit for May 2018. Anyone else?

Still no posting of May 2018 interest. Very unusual! If anyone gets an explanation, please post it here. Nobody ever answers their phone. Is the problem technical or insolvency? Hopefully, the former!

This is also odd. Their main page still mentions a promo rate offer dated april 2018. So how often do they update their website?

2% is Ideal Savings' current savings account rate.

The fine print on the page is for those under their previous 2½% promotional rate reported in Ideal Savings - 2.50% Promo extended until December 31, 2018:

* Accounts opened, or mailed applications postmarked by 13 April 2018, will continue to receive the promotional rate until 31 December 2018.

I was told yesterday it is a technical problem having to do with posting the interest to the accounts. They said they can see the interest for each account in their system. I expected it to be solved by now though. Annoying, especially because everything is so prompt usually.

The main accomplishment of almost all organized protests is to
annoy people who are not in them.

Sound like a glitch in updating the copy of the information used by their online banking web site.

Something similar happened at another financial institution, EQ Bank, last year.

My linked external accounts disappeared from EQ Bank online banking. I called in. Customer service agent could still see my linked accounts in their main system. Something got messed up when their online banking site was recently upgraded.

No need for further worry, Anita. Interest was posted in my account today. The amount included the first few days of June, which is odd but I won't complain.

From Ideal Savings just now:

“Due to a scheduled system update, there has been a delay in posting May’s interest to some accounts.
In order to address the delayed payments on June 4th, affected accounts were paid interest for the month of May as well as June 1st and 2nd. We apologize for the delay as well as any inconvenience this system issue may have caused and encourage you to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.”

Strange, my account was credited yesterday with May as well as June 1-4 interest, i.e. 35 days.

Well, glad that is now sorted. Let us hope it does not happen again, at least to make Ideal look competent.
