Hubert now has a big banner up alerting us to the end of their web site as we know and love it. sf-wink

Lots of changes ahead in their transition to the new web site. One that caught my eye was no more electronic tax slips going forward. That doesn't strike me as progress. sf-surprised

Some highlights to me:

* Free Interac e-Transfers
* Mobile cheque deposit
* 1-year quarterly redeemable GIC is staying
* No more ability to transfer funds to/from external accounts (from within the Hubert online interface)?!?
* No more self-serve option for GICs within online banking?!?

Those last two might be deal breakers for me.

So if there is no longer an ability to transfer funds from within the Hubert/Access platform, is Interac going to be the only way to get our money out of Hubert from within their system?

As a point of comparison for a less flexible online platform, MAXA doesn't have internal transfers either, but they do provide cheques to move your money out, in addition to Interac and an ATM card.

Details are at Integration Weekend.

Funds transfers to/from external accounts still available but via an agent:

We have retained your existing externally linked accounts (CDN and USD) to allow you to request a transfer (in the cases where the amount is greater than e-Transfer limits) to or from your linked external accounts. Please allow up to five business days to process transfer requests. We will gladly accept your instructions and process transfers on your behalf, but please be aware that there are no self-serve options available within internet banking to initiate transfers to or from external accounts at this time.

Then how do we transfer large amount of fund out of Hubert? I will move all my fund out by the end of this year since the Hubert's GIC rates are not competitive now.

Oh, well... Stuff happens and nothing lasts forever...

- Instructions to create new password - special characters are not allowed (%$#~, etc.)???
- To receive One Time Passcode (OTP) validation - it looks like code will be sent to mobile phone as SMS. Will they offer email option? Not everybody and their dog and cats have mobile phones.
- And this is SO &*%#%$^ important! - 'Personalized experience: select a profile image and background image on the app for a more personalized experience'.

So, to get your money in/out now you would need to CALL them since on-line will not work anymore BUT they will keep your linked account?! And to do the same to open GIC? Welcome to the 19th century.

I pity guys working for Hubert at front line as they will receive zillion calls.

Anybody has saving account at Wealth Simple? Better rate that Hubert. What about other features? Fees? Transfer in/out through on-line? Etc.?

Wow no good. They “were” second best on my list.

Interesting to see how I get my RIF payments where I want them and getting money out of an cashable GIC.

Thanks for the heads up.

I hope the qualification of "at this time" in the last sentence means that it will be available again as they move forward with more changes, but it would be more reassuring if they'd said they were working on it.

I would expect they would be swamped with phone calls about transfers, and that this would motivate them to move as quickly as possible to re-institute online transfers.

Surely they can't mean everything has to be done on a smartphone????!! That might end my Hubert relationship.

I'm happy to see they still plan to be no-fee FI though.sf-smile You can't beat that for registered transfers.
And the retention of the one year tiered GIC is a winner for sure!

Personally, I don't mind calling in for a transfer etc. I find the personal contact reassuring. But I wouldn't want that to be the only option and I think it would prove unwieldy on an ongoing basis as it's too staff-intensive. So I am hopeful this is a temporary measure, perhaps until they update and reconcile the security systems.

So my Accelerate becomes Hubert. So I lose the use of Accelerate cheques and ATM Card?

Wish I could read the pasted blurb. I can't read it on the original either. Maybe I'll have to phone and get them to read it to me. They are supposed to be disability-friendly, so they say.

Much of this is quite disturbing!

And from my perspective, quite sneaky! I always go to Hubert via https://online.happysavings.ca and there is no sign of this post anywhere!

I seem to recall you warning us months ago that this merger wasn't going to be good for us ... 🙂

Just had a chat with Customer Service. (Short wait time but the first time I ever had to wait as they are getting a few calls about the transition.)

I did confirm that self-serve transfers and account creation (HISA's & GIC's) ends on Sep 22.

I asked if the intent of the feature/benefit downsize was to downsize Hubert. Apparently not (LOL) but I did note that this customer service rep was not his usual chipper self.

I need to figure out how Hubert fits into our plans going forward.

Quite disappointing.

The phone call required vs online external transfers is definitely a game changer for me but the removal of online joint GIC creation is my breaking point. Are there any other FIs that offer the ability to create joint GICs online? Tangerine requires a phone call and followup paperwork which is also a pain.
thanks

Yes the TNG phone call is a pain as wait times can be long and customer service competency quite variable but I've never needed additional paperwork ...

What I have found with the new Accelerate group that I assume will take over Hubert, the quality of the person you are talking to is third rate.

If I have to call for everything and have to use my iPhone, then for sure I will take all of my investments in Accelerate and Hubert and go with a broker where I will have a one stop shop and all be the same process.

And for sure each and every GIC that comes up will go out elsewhere. I done a few 5 year phase outs....I can do 1 more!!!

What kind of mess am I looking at with my 2 accounts merged along with my wife's separate logins for her registered investments.

I bet the calls are going to shut down their phone system!!!!

I highly doubt this transition is smooth as I already see what they used to say, they say no longer.
