OfflineI am currently unable to log into EQ through my desktop. I have not had an issue with this login in the past. Log in pages seem to be stalling and not loading to complete the login. I have tried both Edge and Chrome. On Friday, it would send the security code but the page to input the code would not load. Today, I can't even get to the page to enter my password. Have contacted EQ and they will respond in 3 to 5 business days. All of my other websites are loading normally.
Has anyone else experienced this issue and if so what was the resolution?

EQ is likely having issues again, how do I know? Well, I haven't any need to sign-in, however, I'm getting security codes sent to me for some unknown reason. This has happened in the recent past, it eventually sorts itself out and things return to normal.

That's not normal. Did they confirm that you received the security codes due to an error on their end? If not, you should change your banking password because the only time you should receive the security code is if your username and password were entered correctly.

In the past, I've had problems signing on to my EQ Bank account when I used the Firefox browser. Turning off the UBlock Origin plugin does not resolve it and I'm forced to use Chrome in order to sign on.
But sometimes even when I sign on using Chrome, clicking around gets me disconnected and I have to sign back on. They are one of the worse online banking websites I've seen.

No, there was a discussion about this sometime back where someone called EQ about it and their response was (paraphrasing): " Sorry, it's a glitch ".
Oh, and I just got another one a few minutes ago.
I have desktop login issues with EQ Bank at least once per month. At one point last year, it was happening at least every few days. The only reliable solution I had was to log in via a private/incognito window.
According to Reddit, login problems are common at EQ Bank, and often only experienced by a subset of users at a time.

OfflineSpouse and I have been with EQ since day one, use Windows desktop with Edge browser, never ever had an issue signing in until about a month ago, then became hit and miss.
After it persisted for a few days we withdrew all our money when our gics matured, reliable online access to our money 100% of the time is not optional for me no matter how good the rates.

OfflineTheir web site people are not the best.
In November 2024, EQ Bank online banking logins gave "Technical difficulties. We don't like them either, …" for a whole day!
Turned out my accounts were locked out. The agent claimed it was because of multiple two-factor authentication failures by me. I responded "No." No screen asking for the one-time code appeared. No one-time codes were e-mailed.
Dim wits! If account was locked out, then write the bit of extra @#$! code to say "Accounts locked. Please call…" instead of using a vague catch-all "Technical difficulties…" message.

OfflineLike many others I have had trouble logging in periodically. Things like repeated failures and trying another browser (I normally use Firefox).
I'm not sure if this trick will help anyone else as it did me. When a failure happens, use this URL and try again: https://www.eqbank.ca/sign-out
It's scary to say, but I hope they are more capable doing a big project like taking on PC Financial ! 😀

Yes that is a bad process. I had a similar experience with Tangerine several years ago. I was unable to log into my account. I don't remember exactly what the error message was but it wasn't clear what the issue was.
I called them and they told me my account was locked due to suspicion of fraud. I don't remember the reason why they suspected fraud and I had no problem with them temporarily blocking my account but they made no attempt to call or email me to let me know.
I told them that they should at least try to contact me when blocking my account but I don't think the person I was speaking to was interested in hearing that.

Oh OK then, I'll bite/byte
- Timing - when EQ is having a problem, or not
- Browser type and/or update to it causes failure by blocking some part of the login procedure until the next update fixes the problem they inadvertently created by trying to add security!
- Anti Virus used and its too aggressive settings or its latest update (now that might well be the culprit)
- Browser cache/cookies saved is faulty/corrupted from the last time logging out of EQ, usually when doing it too fast/closing the browser completely and fast. Use a browser that allows going in and deleting all cache and cookies, but for EQ only.
- And finally...... who knows!

OfflineThe EQ Bank App and webpage sometimes are slower to load than my other 'big-five' online banking services [RBC, Scotia] and small providers [PCF, Home] but I have yet to encounter a denial of access in the four years I've been a client. By slower, I mean 10-15 seconds compared to 1-5 seconds. I'm content with the delay in exchange for 2.75% interest on my spending accounts, Being optimistic, I expect EQ to improve as it expends and builds-out its technology.

Very interesting now that you mention it, I noticed that too. Perhaps it represents the sign in signal going through multiple routers with checks along the way, most likely EQ's method of protecting themselves against hackers. Just guessing, that could sometimes affect the stability of the sign in process.

To rely on EQ Bank, I would have both the mobile banking and online banking because the online banking is more unreliable I've found. As well, have the EQ Bank Card to be able to withdraw some cash right away and deposit it elsewhere in a potentially very inconvenient unavailability. Also remember while there is no telephone banking, you can complete transactions via Customer Care just in case you can’t log on at all and it’s urgent. Finally, create a “passkey” in the EQ Bank security settings to have the option of passwordless and SMS 2FA-less login, which might help if one of those things at EQ Bank isn’t working (in addition to you adopting the increased security).
The website and app slowness is very true and I find it funny EQ Bank and its Wikipedia article makes a deal about it being the first “cloud-first bank”, while only EQ Bank’s performance in reality is completely garbage so that doesn’t mean anything at all.
