Wal-Mart have made a name for themselves by twisting the English language to suit their needs.

I always believed Wal-Mart's "Rollback" pricing meant "a reduced price going forward until a situational change" IT'S NOT. It's a temporary sale, a week, maybe two.

To me... this is false advertising, it's misleading. I went into walmart, stupid me thinking they've rolled back the price on an item i wanted to buy, only to discover the product was back up to full, regular price. What i call a weekly "SALE" Wal-Mart mislabel as a "ROLLBACK".

At least Walmart cannot promise 'the lowest price guarantee' any longer, since they dropped their Price-Match policy.

In my view, WalMart is not an inexpensive store. When they do have a decent sale, they often hide the merchandise on the highest shelf where you can't reach it or don't have any in stock.

Just don't go there!

Thanks, Kidd, I didn't know that, useful info I'll pass on to our family's main shopper. We like WalMart, we use it a lot for certain things at reasonable prices, can buy most anything there, sometimes stay in their parking lots for free overnight when I'm trailer travelling in USA (!), plus I like to virtual signal by supporting businesses that sell products resulting in employment of poor 3rd world workers (an offshoot of this pandemic - due partly to lack of 1st world travellers' money infusion to local economies, many 3rd world country folks in dire straits) so I encourage people to shop there.

Lots of marketing phrases are deceptive, we all know it's pretty common. Just last week I had a new wood stove installation at a property and the guy said I had a lifetime warranty which he voluntarily told me really means 25 years! Not as important for me anymore but younger folks might want to double-check those claims.

They do not have enough space to print 'temporary' rollback 😉

Some grocery stores have 'locked down' signs. They used to print date until locked down (longer sale) lasts; not anymore. Manager told me it could be a week, few weeks, etc. and if I see something I need/want to buy it NOW and not to wait until last day or around.
Idea is to get you into store very often and buy, buy, buy.

Retailers hope that the fear of 'losing out on a good price' is the motivation purchase immediately. Their research has shown that fear of loss / missing out is far greater than the perception of actual value gained.

.
Before you go shopping at Walmart, remember . . .

1.) A trip to Walmart does Not guarantee you'll be getting a good deal.

2.) The term 'Rollback' ≠ a permanent price reduction.

3.) Shop & compare ... better deals are often found Elsewhere.

4.)

A good part of Wal-Mart's discount comes from squeezing and extorting kickbacks (er, "shelf fees") from suppliers.

Another good part of Wal-Mart's discount comes from only offering the crappiest products in a range.

And, finally, Wal-Mart's pricing policy is to compete heavily on the products they know their customers buy most frequently and know the latest prices on. Less frequently purchased products - often big-ticket items - are uncompetitive or even more expensive.
