This is so much better than what was offered with Boxing Day deals that I have to share it:

https://publicmobile.ca/en/pla.....etwork=ALL

Monthly pricing for 2 years:

$20 for 60GB
$25 for 80GB
$30 for 100GB

Sale ends tomorrow (Monday, January 26).

Public Mobile is self-serve but runs on the Telus network.

New subscribers only, unfortunately. I saw some chatter that some existing customers were able to get around that and change to these deals, but I certainly couldn't! It is half the current price of those plans for the two years.

I just wonder….what will this subscriber be facing after the 24 30 day periods. Track record is….they won’t allow the customer to go down to a lower priced plan.

This is very good for 2 years. But I foresee prices increasing for all Service Providers in Canada two years for now.

Need to compare with Fizz. No contract. Price will never increase. Can change plan each month. Monthly data does not expire for 3 months. 60 GB is now $38/month for Canada wide service.

My son‘s phone is with public mobile, which was just raised to $18 a month with 0 GB of data has 250 mB which is nothing after examining current offerings. We are moving him to freedom mobile have to pay $170 once annually but he will get 40 GB to manage over 12 months comes in an average cost of about 15 bucks a month so we gain data and save three dollars a month and they promised never to raise the price as long as you stay on the same plan. For our family, it makes sense because two other members are on freedom already.

PM has no Voice over WiFi, no international receipt of SMS, no roaming outside US and Mexico, 2 hr maximum talking at a time, no telephone or retail store support. It does have good signal in most locations.

There is also $149 plan from Koodo for 30GB/360days. Plus they have referral bonus allowing to save up to $150/yr.

Can you still keep your current telephone number if you switch carrier at the end of the 2 years?

In regards to keeping your number the majority of carriers will accept and port your number in. Fizz is 100% quirky on porting.

I have an $18 plan that I am totally satisfied with. Not much data…..but we don’t have the need. And currently we have $7 in credits per plan per month.

We would have to forgo the credits and port our numbers to another carrier and port them back to the Promo as they are only offering this plan to new customers.

Buying the $20 PROMO has very good value. And would give fantastic bragging material.

The thing about Public Mobile is…….after the two years…they will NOT allow you to return or downgrade to the $18 plan if it was still offered.

As far as phone or data service, we have absolutely no issues with Public Mobile.

PM does NOT allow porting from one account to another within the PM system. There is a way to do it and costs about $30.

Isn't phone number portability a statutory requirement now, as of a few years ago?

Perhaps but Fizz is odd.....below is a copy and paste from Fizz website.

Numbers that cannot be transferred.
While the vast majority of phone numbers can be transferred, there are exceptions.

Your phone number must be a mobile number. If your phone number is associated with a landline or VOIP, it cannot be transferred over to Fizz. If you encounter an issue with any other type of number, please contact us using the chat bubble at the bottom right of this page so we can verify everything with you.

======

With so many people moving away from a land line and porting their favourite number to a mobile plan......Fizz is NOT a good fit.
