Only for research reason I have decided on the current application to say, that I did not received the gift card from the 2018 Loblaw Card Program.I did received my $25 Loblaw Gift Card and spent it almost immediately long time ago.
I will post here any communications, that they will send me and/or any payment in 2026, if applicable.
I will not provide to them any ID.
If they will request further confirmation of identity by other means, I will post here what exactly they want and will decide at that time to proceed or not.
They may either (a) disallow your supplemental claim on the basis of false reporting or (b) deduct the $25.00 from your entitlement.
Your choice, but it's both dishonest and foolish. I disagree with it.
Cheers,
Doug

You are mistaken. It is not for $25 at all.
It is only for research to see, if they will actually check their records from 2018.
If yes, will they request further confirmation of identity or simply deny my misrepresented claim.
Okay... that's a bit of a weak 'research' rationale, IMHO. I would just say be honest. These guys likely maintain very accurate recordkeeping systems, and their privacy policies allow for sharing of information across different administrators and with Loblaw Companies Ltd. and related affiliates.
Cheers,
Doug

OfflineThe administrator is going to check against the Loblaw Card Program records from the defendant Loblaw/Weston:
Did you apply for a $25 Loblaw Gift Card under the Loblaw Card Program in 2018 as partial compensation for the purchase of Packaged Bread?
Important: Information will be verified with the defendant’s records.
○ Yes ○ No
If they didn't ask for additional ID for the Loblaw gift card earlier, then they likely are not going to ask for ID now. They were able to verify identity back then. They can repeat that verification again.
I would contact the settlement administrator with the claim ID's and cancel the incorrect first claim.

Are we going through all this angst for $5? What is the most that one can get?

Dont need to make this complicated at all. if you received the $25, says so and vice versa.
No need to lie or compromise your integrity just so you can make an extra $25 dollar or more on this.
Ok, colour me confused. If someone received the intial $25 way back when, does that mean they cannot pass "GO" and collect another $25 (or $5)?
(Some people are strange. For example, they will wait in a long line to save 5cent on gas. They probably burned more than 5cent just waiting in line.)

OfflineOne can still collect more if one received the $25 from the Loblaw Card Program in 2018.
If one received it, that $25 is considered to be a $25 advance on this recent settlement and will be subtracted from the to-be-calculated amount of this settlement.
The current settlement with Loblaw/Weston is $500 million. $96 million of that $500 million is considered "already advanced through the Loblaw Card Program [in 2018]."
This is from the settlement FAQ:
Can I claim compensation under the settlement if I participated in the Loblaw Card Program?
Yes, you can submit a Claim for compensation under the settlement even if you participated in the Loblaw Card Program. You will, however, only be entitled to the amount by which the additional settlement compensation exceeds the $25 Loblaw Card benefit previously received and only if that additional settlement compensation amount is $5 or more.

Thanks for the info on the final settlement amounts. Back in Post 3, I estimated that the settlement would generate between $25 and $50 for victims of the pricing conspiracy, after the lawyers took their share. It looks like that's where the payments have settled.
Did anyone else get their payment?

OfflineThe settlement's FAQ now has these answers:
How much compensation will I receive?
The amount per claimant will depend on whether an approved claimant previously received a $25 Loblaw card from the Loblaw Card Program.
If you did not participate in the Loblaw Card Program you will be paid $49.11.
If you participated in the Loblaw Card Program you will be paid $24.11.
Please note: The amount payable to claimants who chose to receive their payment by cheque will be reduced by $2.
…
When will I receive my share of the settlement compensation?
We are now in the distribution phase of the settlement and payments began to be issued for approved claims beginning the week of May 11, 2026.
Payments are issued on a rolling basis so not all claimants will receive payment at the same time. Please check your inbox and junk or spam folder if you chose to be paid by e-Transfer.
How will I receive payment?
Payment will be made by Interac e-Transfer by email from notify@payments.interac.ca or by cheque, depending on the payment method requested by the claimant.
Please note that because of the large number of approved claims, payments are being issued on a rolling basis and not all claimants will receive payment at the same time.
If you are expecting an e-Transfer, please check your ‘Spam’ and “Junk” folders, as sometimes emails are routed there. If you elected to be paid by cheque, $2 will be deducted from the compensation payable to reflect the additional cost of providing a cheque.
