OfflineI don't have a problem with tipping. The article mentions the negative consequences of abolishing tipping.
My tipping strategy is based on the price of the meal and the quality of service.
Better service gets a better tip, but I always tip because of compassion for servers.
A high priced meal will get a lower percentage tip than a low priced meal.

I will pretty well always give a much bigger percentage wise tip if I have a lunch meal with tea or coffee for the beverage vs a fancy dinner meal with wine for a beverage.
The restaurant didn't make the wine and it takes just as much effort for the waiter to pour a cup of coffee than to pour wine into a glass.

. . . bbbut Bill ⬆️,
I doubt there's many who are actually advocating the abolition of tipping by government legislation.
Instead ... many are now looking for a 'Cultural' change, where the old/antiquated practice of Tipping slowly goes the way of the Dodo Bird,
as it has in many other countries.
And 'Yes' ... It's already starting to happen❗

OfflineForgive ignorance...why is it that working at a restaurant is classified differently than any other jobs?! Set a price for a meal and do away with tips. Restaurant employees will be paid by the business based on their performance, that's it. If a customer wants to tip their server, that's extra for them.
