Concentra Bank has posted increased rates effective Jan 6, 2021

1-4 years 1.20% (including an 18 month term)
5 years 1.60%

Non-reg and reg funds

Though not earth shaking, it is an increase.

Can this be the beginning of a trend?

There's a loss of confidence in the system more investors want to remain liquid due to unforeseen government events and actions. Your trapped in the 5yr it's like being in jail when there's a fire.

And not to mention ... the 'Totally Uninspiring' 5yr rates (< 1.95%) ❗ sf-confused

For the time being, I won't go past two (2) years.

Effective January 13, 2021:

INCREASE in GIC rates to 1.250% for all terms formerly 1.20% except for 5 year term that remains at 1.60%

increase is always better than decrease, no matter how slight
