Their promo page is misleading regarding the process. I learned the hard way that the promo period starts as soon as you open the jumpstart savings account. There is no 30 day waiting, or no “claim” action to trigger the promo, as it’s alluded in the promo page. When I contacted them to clarify, they said that if I were to become a member by opening a checking account, then I would have 30 days to open the savings account in order to be eligible for the promo. But when I became a member by opening the savings account, the promo started right away. And there is no other way of becoming a member without opening an account.
So don't make the mistake I made; don’t bother opening the account before you’re ready to transfer in your money.
