I've got a downloaded Vancity Class E disclosure statement from August 2017 which mentions the restrictions in redeeming these shares, so this is nothing new. It does seem like Vancity may be purposely not publicising anything to do with class E shares. Last time I searched, which was quite a while ago, the only thing I could find was a page with disclosures about directors who owned class E shares. My guess is that they don't want the general membership to know that a small number of members are getting these high rates.

Tyni_Tyres (do you drive a Mini?) : I bought my Class E (investment) shares a very long time ago, and noted only the restriction on total number of shares withdrawn over ALL subscribers. Sales of VanCity's investment shares are very restricted, and they are offered only now and then for limited periods and total amount; when the capitalization goals are met, the issue is suspended. They are not a regular retail product.
It is common for many corporations to expect directors to "have skin in the game" by holding capital in companies they direct. That's not particularly suspicious.
I've only learned about an investment share issue three times in my three decades with them, and the second time they were all gone by the time I got to my branch.

No Mini car, just some small tyred English bicycles. My spouse and I got our class E shares in 2017. I don't think that there's anything suspicious going on, except that when I searched the web for info a few years back I got absolutely no hits except for that disclosure document. I was wondering if they were perhaps purposely not publicising the existence of these shares. I see now that's not really the case any more and when you search 'Vancity Class E shares' a fair bit of stuff pops up.
