I've got tiny cashback on my Tangerine MasterCard, 15 cents, and it were deposited to an otherwise empty Savings account.
I decided to move these 15 cents from Savings to Checking, to keep Savings empty, and got "Transaction amounts need to be at least $1.00" error message.
So, I moved $1 from Checking to Savings, then, immediately after, $1.15 back from Savings to Checking.
I suspect this limit was placed to avoid tiny transactions wasting precious database and servers resources. How is that working for you, Tangerine?

.
The same thing happened to me last year. I now keep at least a dollar in every account that I want to keep open. And I no longer fret over small change. Life is so much better now.
I'm guessing that Tang isn't the only FI that has a "Transaction amounts need to be at least $1.00" rule.
