There was an email dated Dec 23 from Tangerine regarding this *targeted* offer.

Very soon, you’re going to be able to earn a 4.75% special interest rate on all of your eligible non-registered Savings balances of up to $1,000,000 combined*!

Today's the day. Check your insight for details. Activate the Offer online by January 31, 2023. sf-smile

Which is better? Tangerine 4.75% compounded or Simplii 5% non compounded and payable only after 1 month after the promotion?

IMO, Simplii, just by the simple compound calculation on Tang and then convert to an annual rate. sf-wink

However I tire of tracking what Simplii does and when.

Still waiting for today's Tang offer, not showing in Insights yet....

The main accomplishment of almost all organized protests is to
annoy people who are not in them.

No email today, but got the Activate Now button after logging in
Slightly confusing procedure, but did get a confirming email after all said and done.
I'm in the same boat with Simplii My rough calculations lead me to believe the Simplii offer works out somwhere near 4.90 (to compare to Tangerine 4.75
However, I also get worn down with Simplii's processes-- plus I got caught with some money in the account on Dec 1, so that takes the effective rate down a little further as well
I'll probably split some between the two, just on a spread it around principle

Cheques deposited to Tangerine at a BNS ATM must be under $100,000 per transaction.

BNS ATM once rejected my cheque for Tangerine at the amount of just over $50,000.

I got both offers as well. XD. Tangerines 4.75% for previous customers and Simplii's 5%. Guess I am lucky with them

I also called Tang and was told no offer was available to me. He asked me how much I was able to bring to Tang and I told him and that it would be available on Jan 27. He would not give me any offer, today, but said that I could call back closer to Jan 27 and we could negotiate.

Also, got the same offer via email, after I had already seen it in my Insight earlier to-day.

The e-mail "Ready to save more? Here’s your new 4.75%* interest rate" with an "Activate Now" button is being sent later in the day.

I received it this afternoon. The e-mail has a link to the full terms and conditions of the offer. It is an entire-balance offer and not a new-money offer:

  1. The Tangerine Bank (the “Bank”) Special Savings Rate Offer for Non-Registered Savings Accounts (the “Offer”) is available to existing Tangerine Clients who: (1) receive a communication about the Offer directly from the Bank, (2) “Activate” the Offer (as defined in Section 4 below) by January 31, 2023 and (3) receive a Confirmation in their online Inbox that the Offer has been successfully activated (“Eligible Clients”).
  2. The Offer is only available to Eligible Clients on combined daily closing balances in their eligible Tangerine Savings Account(s), as defined below (“Applicable Accounts”) to a maximum daily closing balance of $1,000,000 in all Applicable Accounts combined (“Eligible Balances”) from January 5, 2023 to May 31, 2023 (the “Promotion Period”).
  3. For the purposes of this Offer, “Applicable Accounts” only include Tangerine Savings Accounts and don’t include any other Tangerine Accounts such as (but not limited to) Tax-Free Savings Accounts (“TFSA Savings”), RSP Savings Accounts (“RSP Savings”), RIF Savings Accounts, US$ Savings Accounts, Business Savings Accounts, US$ Business Savings Accounts, or Children’s Savings Accounts.

I got both offers from Tang and simplii which was a nice surprise. I just activated Tangs offer. I like how its not on new deposits. Thats a pleasent change. Is there an unwritten rule that someone that lives with you at the same address can get access to the same offers like our partner? I have read this on the forum prior. My wife did not get the emailed offer and I would like to get her on it if possible.

I cant believe it does not apply to TFSA's 🙁

Question = Does tfsa gic and non registered gic has 2 separate coverages for 100K?
Or both GIC are combined and have only 100K coverage?
