Same here. Promised that I do not have to do anything and that my expiring 5.25% on May 31, 2024, will simply extend to August 31, 2024, upon clicking on an "Activate" tab of sort. Silence since then. No email, not Activate banner, no Inbox notice. I called Tangerine several times; first time on hold for over 90 minutes so I hung up (the call back function was also disabled); the second time an Associate told me not to worry and the the 5.25% will be honored to August 31, 2024, etc.; the third time the Associate had no clue about this matter and appeared not to beieve me, so I told her, "Listen to the recording!" so she placed a complaint to listen to the last conversation and assured me that "if" it is as I said, then retroactively the new Promotional Rate will apply. Still waiting, June 03, 2024 now. I am now waiting to speak with a Supervisor while writing this post...

If something appears in the future, I may move some back. There are other places to invest.FWIW : If an institution wants to keep our business by extending a promotion, just do it and stop jerking us around!

Rhino. It is not necessary to make a fuss just yet. No one here has got the activation link yet. And when it does (& you'll hear from everybody here!), then there should be ~ month's window to activate, and retro for sure.

I'd give Tangerine a few business days.
The activation notification for the extension offer for last month didn't show up until May 2, the second business day of the month.

After receiving the same email as discussed in thread, I just logged in and noticed the offer available on "Insights".
Here is the result of the activation:
Terrific! Your exclusive rate of 5.75% is already hard at work as of June 1, 2024.
To make the most of your interest rate, simply keep your money in your eligible Savings Account(s), where it will earn this rate until August 31, 2024. And any additional money you add counts too!
My previous special interest rate expired on May 31, 2024.

I don't recall seeing an email.
My previous promotion expired yesterday (June 3, 2024). I think that I was getting 3.45%. I just called and asked if they could offer me another promotion. I was put on hold and they came back at 4.70% till Sept 1. I'm happy.

My 5.75% promo offer was expired in May 31st. I called an agent in May 24th to transfer money to my cheque a/c (for mobile deposit to another bank). Agent offered 4.85%, I declined.
Got the 5.75% promo rate on "Insights" today, promo period from June 1 to Aug. 31 . New deposit balance as of January 3rd, 2024.

Got the email today to Activate at 5.25% until Aug. 31, 2024. Read all the fine print. Appears as an extension of the May 31, 2024 expired 5.25% and continues from June 01, 2024 (yes, retroactively). Note, the Promotional "Extension" rate is for new balance SINCE January 04, 2024 (at least in my case); so you have to see your January Statement to see what your balance was and any amount over it will get the extended promotional rate (if I understand this correctly). Well, all good now except it's still strange that different rates keep floating around like my 5.25%, others at 5.75%, 4.70% and brand new customers opening an account for the first time at 6.00%.

Thank you...when I spoke to an agent prior to the activation showing up, they didn't think it would be retro to June 1st...but clearly it does. I see the same message now. I think they have so many offers going on, even their agents can't keep the rules straight!

whoever answers the phone are like the lowest pay customer service rep. Dont expect them to do much. If they can it on their screen, they read it out to you. If not, who knows what they will make up...

Yeah, low pay and probably lots of turnover, best to always temper one's expectations when calling. It's likely not their fault, they're just not considered valuable to the organization, therefore not worth investing in. They do try to be helpful though, even if it means guessing.

Looks like they put in an extension this time so people won't have to move money out and back in all the time. Too bad I moved the money out too late so I missed the last promotion and looks like I am going to miss this one too because it's an extension of the previous one.

If you want to take advantage of a potential new money promotional offer, which as Norman said, often comes at the last minute, then your best bet is to transfer out a week before your promotion ends. Otherwise, your options are to call and ask for a retention offer (will be lower than current offers, but usually about 25-50 bps lower than the current BoC Policy Interest Rate, which is currently 5.0%), or transfer out to an EQ Bank Notice Savings Account (5.0%), DYN6004 at Scotia iTRADE (5.0%), Wealthsimple Cash (4-5%), or similar.

I didn't get my new promo rate, usually I do and just keep my $ at Tangerine; this time, however, I didn't receive it and just sent my $ over to my Achieva account. Granted only earning 3.6% but at least it's better than 0.7% regular rate at Tangerine.
I know there are other places that have higher rates, but I've opened enough accounts at different FIs, last thing I want is to open a new one.
Does anyone know typically does Tangerine offer different promos every month? I know they last around 5 months, as I've had them before, but I'm wondering when the next iteration of a promo might come along?

I got the extended promo of 5.25% from June 1 to August 31, 2024 for new funds after January 3, 2024, but am thinking of not activating, as there are slightly higher rates elsewhere. Deadline to activate is June 30, 2024. Has anyone had experience in a similar scenario where a promo is not activated by the deadline, and whether Tangerine comes back soon after with a higher interest rate promo? Not sure if the recent Bank of Canada rate cut makes it unlikely for a higher interest rate to be offered going forward. I worry that by not activating, you run the risk of Tangerine skipping you for other rate promos for a while. Thanks in advance for your comments.

I got the one from Dec. 3, 2023 until May 31, 2024 but I never got the extension one that extended the same rate from May to August 2024 but I got the one that I believe just came out that pays 5.75% on new deposits from June 5 to Oct. 31, 2024. They didn't send out emails on this one but just published it as a banner when you log in so if you don't log in, you won't see it. By the time when I saw it, I was already few days late but oh well, at least I got it.

Well that's a nice surprise! Wish I get that, but alas, not been that lucky this time around.
