Received offer this morning...3.21% for both my wife and I for new deposits April 5 thru June 30. My winter offer was 2.59 (didn't use) and my wife never had one. We both were previously on the 3.25 Summer 2016 offer. Not that I think any of this info helps people as it still feels like rate roulette.

GoJetsGTo, thanks for sharing this info. Could you please post a copy of this offer? What deposits are covered with this promotional rate?

Sorry for the interruption, but we couldn't wait to let you know that you've qualified for a special interest rate offer.

New deposits, up to $500,000, to your Tangerine Savings Account(s) and Tax-Free Savings Accounts made from Apr 05, 2017 to Jun 30, 2017 will earn 3.21% interest* until Jun 30, 2017.

Make the most of this special rate while it's available.

* 3.21% interest rate Offer is current as of Apr 05, 2017 and is calculated by adding the Bank's current applicable Posted Rate with the Additional Interest rate of 2.41% for net new Eligible Deposits, up to $500,000, made between Apr 05, 2017 and Jun 30, 2017 to your Tangerine Savings Account(s) and Tax-Free Savings Account(s) ("Applicable Accounts"). Offer will be applied from Apr 05, 2017 to Jun 30, 2017. To receive the Offer, Tangerine Clients must have received the Offer by email directly from the Bank, and/or received a notification that they are eligible to participate in the Offer when they log in on the Bank's website. Clients must also be the Primary Account Holder on the Applicable Account. The Offer does not apply to certain Account types, as outlined in the full Offer Terms and Conditions. The applicable Posted Rate and the Additional Interest rate are annualized rates, calculated daily and paid monthly. Additional Interest will not be payable on Applicable Accounts that are closed before each monthly payment of Additional Interest is made. This Offer and interest rates are subject to change without notice. For full details, see the Offer Terms and Conditions.

I got the same notice as GoJetsGo this morning but for 2.97%.

This was after calling in for retention offers in 2016 and then not receiving any offer in Q1. This time I'd moved my money out of Tangerine for all of Q1.

Thanks GoJetsGo for the copy. I just wonder if my money withdrawal from Tangerine dated April 5, will count for my favor.

I received the offer this morning, for 2.97%. My previous one was 2.83% and expired Mar 31. I moved all my money to EQ on Apr 1 because I don't trust that moving it to chequing will always be "good enough". I see the fine print this time does indeed allow for it again though:

10. The following transactions will be considered Eligible Deposits to which Additional Interest will apply:

Money transferred from a Tangerine Chequing Account to an Applicable Account.

I'm moving the money back now...

My wife received a 3.21% offer, but she is not the primary account holder of our joint savings account, so the offer is useless. I, as the primary account holder, received no offer. Should I call Tang?

hi guys,

so after 45 min with Tang i got some information. I'll try and summarize the salient points.

- promo rates are run by the marketing team and targeted to selected clients. Client servicing units are unaware of the specific criteria used to target.

-marketing promos are established in the first 5 days of first week after the end of the quarter (winter, spring, summer, fall)

-in the most recent case the quarter end was march 31st but some people on the limited time retention offer 2% until April 5th missed the window for marketing team to assess (you wont get a promo on top of an active promo)- i think they did this on purpose if you ask me.

-conclusion: i can infer that it is best to have your money out by end of quarter and do not accept limited time offers which bleed into the first week of the following month after the preceding quarter.

I escalated my concerns to a manager, i said that every time i leave feedback for the marketing team no one calls me back. I have a large sum of money ready to deposit in Tang and you guys are treating a 17 year client like rubbish. Do you guys even value me as a client? After 15 minutes on hold, manager authorizes 2.4% for 180 days. I tried pushing for the 2.97% and the 3.21% but apparently those rates are unavailable for discretionary pricing at the call center level.

I really hate playing these games. I would keep half a buck in Tang steady eddy if they would just give me their tier 1 client rate and stop mucking around with these crappy time wasting games.

Another spring offer from Tangerine. I got the offer of 2.81%, some people got 3.25%. Wife still got nothing so far. Last three months I got no offer and moved my money to EQ for 2%. Now I might move it back…

One has to be realistic. No bank is ever going to be sufficiently charmed by anyone's deposits, in the current interest rate environment, to offer their highest rates to anyone all the time.

Anyway, I lucked out this time at 3.21. Had had very little in savings for the last six months or so. I have zero expectation of getting this every time but happy to take it when it comes.

My wife and I received 2.44% for the next 3 months. Aside the one who got nothing, looks like I'm in the low end of the promo rate range!

I got bupkis this time around from Tangerine. Received the 3.25% promo last quarter, but nothing this time. I called in and spoke to an agent....."blah blah blah.....nothing we can do....blah blah blah.....we can give you 0.8%"

I had well over 200K in Tangerine, which is now in EQ and shortly on its way back to Ideal Savings for 2.5%.

I get really tired of doing this every three months. I really do.

That offer was for the initial deposit only - don't think you're going to get that rate for your re-deposit.

Will you settle for the 1.75% they are currently offering on savings?

Top it up...Adrenaline is likely in the same boat as me. Ideal's first offer was 2.5% on all funds until the end of 2017. They kept that deal intact for those that signed up before they changed the offer to include only the initial deposit.

My husband and I got 3.21. Took full advantage because we didn't get the last promo. Tangerine seemed to be pushing Tfsa's when I called.
I had linked Eq and accelerate at the tangerine end so it was an easy transfer in to get the new promo. . Thanks tangerine.

I was lucky, as I got in early enough with Ideal Savings to get 2.5% for all of 2017. I can move money in and out anytime.

I got the 3.21% offer. This with only about 6K in the savings account, but I do have a Tang MasterCard. I've been a Tang/ING client for some decades.

I'll be topping up my Tang account from my Ideal account, to just under the CDIC limit. It will be interesting to see if Ideal allows me to pull cash from them using Tang's EFT.

Yes, I already tried that last month, worked perfectly - Ideal allowed me to pull $30,000 from them using Tang's EFT.
