I've got the following message in Tangerine inbox:

Big, exciting news for Tangerine Clients!

As a Tangerine Client you can now save more on Home & Auto Insurance with Sonnet!

That's right, we've teamed up with Sonnet to help keep insurance as simple as banking with Tangerine. From their straightforward quote process to awesome savings, you'll get coverage you can count on with Sonnet.

So start saving today by checking out Sonnet.ca/Tangerine.

Visit sonnet.ca/tangerine

Adding discount through Sonnet web site is not complicated, it took longer to login to the site. There is no requirement to use Tangerine CC for payments. Discount is also applicable for those who already have insurance with Sonnet.

I've got about 5% off my existent Sonnet insurance after applying Tangerine discount. Your mileage may vary.

.
Yes, I got that message too.

Like most of us here, I have long since become accustomed to using 'online-only' FIs for HISAs & GICs. However, I still can't bring myself to trusting my home and all my property to an 'online-only' Insurance Company . . .
(e.g. https://www.sonnet.ca/about-us).

I worked in the business (Insurance Company side) as both a Claims Adjuster and then as a Commercial Underwriter, for many years. The true test of any Insurance Company, is how well they handle their customer's insurance claims, as things can sometimes go 'Sideways', even with the best of them.

I can't say from personal experience ... but from what I've heard, dealing with an online-only Insurance Company during a claims process, can very often end up being; 'A Horrid Nightmare'.

Trusting my home and property to an online-only Insurance Company, is a Bridge I'll probably never cross.

Others may differ,

To hell with their quote when they ask SO MANY personal questions...
I am not giving phone number nor driver's license number just to get some quote. I am sure they are way more expensive than I pay now...
NONE of the insurance companies asked me EVER for license number when doing on-line quote.

It is probably not a good idea to switch insurance provider just because of some vague promo offer, but for someone who already has Sonnet insurance getting this promo requires not more than providing to Sonnet primary phone # associated with Tangerine bank account.
