Never got a 3.00%+ offer as I kept renegotiating the rate for a few months at a time. Current negotiated rate I have is 2.60% until Dec. 31, 2022.

I called but Tang refuses to increase the rate and explain that these new 3.00%+ are only for "targeted" customers (whatever that means).

Customers not savvy to know Tang's antics only get the posted lowest rate. Not fair to them and not ethically correct IMHO!

Transferred a large amount over to OAKEN's two entities today for 3.00% sf-smile

For those that got the 3.5% offer after July 31, can you tell me if the balance in your account was relevant to the offer? ie was it only for funds in your account at a certain date, or only for funds added after a certain date, or? I got the hint that I will get a 3.5% offer Sep 1 and am deciding if I should make any transfers or not.

I had around $3000 in my account since June. Got the 3.5% offer when I checked the insights online (no email from Tangerine).

I'm sure we all got the same "Pssst!" email that is a little light on detail other than 3.5% Sep 1 to Dec 31 on non-Registered savings accounts.

Normally, ...

1. TNG interest is calculated daily on the balance of that day.

2. TNG offers are on all funds in the account (s) each day, new or old.

3. Interest is deposited in each qualifying account each month in two pieces:

Part 1 - Late on the last day of the month, the base interest (currently 1%).

Part 2 - Early the next AM, the difference between the promotional interest and the base interest; in this case 2.5% (3.5% - 1.0%).

In any event, my balances will remain at $1 until the offer actually arrives ...

3.5% on up to $5MM in Personal non-Registered $Cdn Savings, Sep 1 to Dec 31.
