Just to confirm. Tangerine request 'New Deposit' to have new promotion rate. I believe most people's current promotion will end at May 31, 2018. The next promotion might be start from Jun.5, 2018. So my question is that shall i move all money from saving account to cheque account at Jun.3 and move them back to saving account at Jun.6 to enjoy new promotion period?

Thanks

Personally, I would move my money from savings to chequing a couple days before May 31. This because Tang might just use the balance as of May 31 to determine 'new money'.

I agree. Tang has been known to move the goal lines. Got me last time. No guarantee funds in your chequing account won't be included in the "snapshot" next promo. If you want to keep playing their game, I'd move it no later than before close of business on the 31st.

I will be calling the marketing department on the 25th and I will be asking for 2.75% but i will accept 2.5%. If they say, NO.... probably on the 30th i'll move my money over to my tangerine checking account. On June 1st, i will try to get 2.75% again from the marketing department (i'll still accept 2.5%). If they say, NO. I will ask to have a supervisor from the marketing dept make a fund transfer back to my linked TD account.

I will post how this goes, good or bad.

I'm not sure the last few months history indicates Tangerine is still playing the 5-days-or-so-after-quarter-end-promo game (and May 31 isn't a quarter-end anyway) they played last year and prior.

I've had it with Tangerine playing these games. I've been a customer a long time way back to ING. The last quarter I moved in 90K and the best rate they would give me was 1.6%. I moved everything out and closed the accounts, as well as the Tangerine Credit card. There are other facilities out there with good rates and much more pleasant to deal with. The most disturbing fact was that they did not even ask to keep me as a customer. Have a look at Hubert.

I prefer this option and it sounds positive. I may try the same strategy. Thank you so much.

Yes I am a bit tired to play the game and hope any promotion can be at least half year. Moreover, I did not find any better bank with can provide 2.5% for saving account for more than 1 year. I thought simplii is the one however it is not convenient because the bank deposit the promotion interest after the entire promotion period end rather than 1st every month. Does Hubert proviede 2.5+ rate all the year?

Hubert has a 12 month plan that pays interest every three months.. It averages 2.45% if you leave your money in it for the 12 months. If you draw it out you will get a bit less interest. Also, you can have ten plans and you will never have to cash a lot in. They are very good on the phone explaining everything.

Just have caught tangerine on a good day. Got 2.5 until October 31st. I called on a Saturday, first offer was 1.6 , I turned it down and got a call back 15 minutes later with better offer.
That has never happened before, and I've been in the tangerine game for a while.
