They have simultaneously reduced their savings rates from 2.5, 2.6. and 2.8 to 2.4, 2.5 and 2.7 (tiered rates, depending on size of deposit).

Howdy: I am sure it was mentioned before but this is the first time I am reading this thread on Steinbach CU. While the rates have dropped now to only 2.7% on a $250 000 deposit in savings, the most outstanding benefit with Steinbach is that they have UNLIMITED insurance as a credit union in Manitoba. Not $1 million but unlimited in my last reading. So for people with oodles of assets needing the peace of mind of an insured product this is the place. I would be curious what other deposit insurance guarantees are offered for credit unions in the eastern provinces ?I know in Ontario it is $250 000 for credit unions as I bank with Meridian as well as Steinbach.
Other Western provinces appear to have unlimited deposit insurance for their credit unions but i have yet to find one with savings rates as high as Steinbach ? Besides having rock solid savings rates, Steinbach is by far the biggest credit union in Manitoba out of around 25 credit unions there.
