Would it be possible to indicate with an * beside the new HISA rate(s) that has/have been updated that day? For example, chart shows "Last Update: April 13, 2020", but which financial institution(s) changed rate(s) that day? An * next to the updated rate for one day only (or until the next chart update) would highlight the change, which we would notice at a glance.
Thanks for your consideration.

Hi GR -- currently the updates go on the "News archive" page, which is currently only linked from the sidebar. There are several possible ways to show change information -- maybe with some shading or even an explicit date of last change per financial institution?

When the mouse is hovered over the rate, there is a message indicating that by clicking the rate, the history of that rate is displayed.

Does that not provide the information being sought, or is the suggestion to display the date of last change of the current rate on the rate page?

I was thinking the same thing, Stephen. To be honest, I think adding the asterisk would just be adding clutter for the sake of clutter here.

So my vote is to oppose this good-faith suggestion. sf-cool

Doug

Just looking for a quick simple way to see where the HISA chart was updated that day, without hovering over all rates. An * next to the newly-updated rate would be helpful to focus the reader's attention at a glance to view what changed since the previous update.

I've added a "Recent changes" section at the bottom. The goal is to show the changes made over the past few weeks, maybe up to 1 month back.

Concur with GR that is a reasonable idea, but what I have noticed of late, and this may have been the impetus for GR's asterisk suggestion, is that when you have been updating the HISA and GIC charts, you've filled down the "updated" column with the same date, even when no updates were made to the chart(s) that day. Was this an oversight on your part? And, secondly, can you go back to only updating the "updated" column's date(s) for any row(s) that had updates? This, combined with making the "updated" column sortable by ascending or descending order, should fully satisfy the original aim of GR's request, and then we may not need a "recent changes" section, which adds to page clutter.

Secondly, I've also noticed you've not updated the Oaken GIC rates, and my concern is you are waiting until the effective date of the change. This is a logistical challenge and is problematic to users as well. In the GIC rate history page, the effective date of the change is noted, so could still update the GIC rates and just future date the date of the change to the effective date.

Hoping you'll implement these reasonable situations.

Cheers,
Doug

Can we not add a "Yes" to the Quebec column for EQ?
Unless someone has information to the contrary, it appears to be open to "all Canadian residents".

The asterisk on that page says "The EQ Bank Savings Plus Account is currently not available in Quebec."

Thanks. You're right. They should make it clearer above.
