Is there a redeemable GIC chart (I couldn't find one)?

If not, would be nice to have an extra column (e.g. with Redeemable checkmarks) to the existing GIC chart.

Thank you very much!sf-smile

It's a good idea, but doesn't currently exist on this site!

I believe Motive allows early redemption at the sacrifice of accrued interest. Would this qualify as redeemable?

I would say yes.

If there was a chart it would be nice to make note of penalties and if there is a time frame before you see it cashed. And what the process is.....call FI.....or do yourself online. And if TFSA, RRSP or RRIF what is the process to withdraw. Itrade allows you to withdraw from TFSA online, Accelerate you can do same but interest is not paid daily/monthly so you have to call to collect the interest....if you don’t the interest will be there at year end, Hubert RRIF withdrawals you must sign a “permission slip” ☹️ if you withdraw from your RRIF savings if over the mandatory amount.

Quite awhile ago, years, a lot of the Manitoba CUs had them.

Right now Hubert has a reasonable cashable 1 year GIC. Their policy is clearly stated. And money comes quick. I think I had to call to do.

I think Oaken has one?

Itrade had some too...but could take over a week to see the money.

Oaken has one-year cashable GIC's. One is cashable after 30 days. The other is cashable after 90 days.

Hubert used to accept cashing requests for their one-year term by secure chat. Now, one needs to phone in.

Hi there, for what it's worth, I would also appreciate a chart specific to redeemable (cashable) GICs with rate and redemption terms and conditions. Like if the money is redeemable with interest after 30, 60 or 90 days (assuming that redemption before that date is possible but gives zero interest), and the manner of redemption, as mentioned by previous posters (online, phone call or in person visit required?).

Thanks to those who have already shared info of some institutions that have them. The Ontario only, rest of Canada, or Available in Quebec distinctions in the chart would also be highly useful.

Thanks!

Unless the GIC clearly stated non-redeemable and offer a somewhat a higher interest rate than equivalent, think a lot of them are "redeemable" these days, even when they wont actively advertised that feature.
For example I have one with Duca that I am able to redeem and earn interest up to the date of, even tho its not explicit that it can be redeemed. But that one also is NOT labelled as non-redeemable either.
