CAD, you can only see those "stupid posts" if you first click on the topic, so (I'm curious) why do you click on topics you "HAVE ZERO INTEREST IN"?

Exactly. Contrary to what the OP said, he doesn't have to see (almost) any posts he/she doesn't want to. And I'm thinking like cgouimet "suggested" with this too, but not sure about that (if you know what I mean 
).
My memory's not as sharp as it used to be. Also, my memory's not as

If you start a new topic, you are automatically subscribed. No one else is until they choose to subscribe. Once subscribed, we all have the option to unsubscribe.
The option to change Subscribe Flag is at the bottom of over topic tread.
