Would it be possible to have the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 year columns have a summary at the bottom?
Ie.
Highest Rate
Lowest Rate
Average Rate

You can sort high to low, or low to high for the specific term you wish by clicking the arrows in the header.

Average is meaningless. One can eyeball it in one's head within 0.1%

It's certainly possible. Are you thinking it would just list the numbers and not who is providing the low/high rate? I just don't want to make it seem like we're recommending or endorsing certain ones over others. Also, it's far from a comprehensive list, so I don't want to make it seem like it's some cross-Canada average.

Agreed. Adding Low/High/Avg would bring up more issues. It is easy enough to sort to get those answers. And Avg is meaningless, so why add it?

Peter, please don't add more numbers, especially those, that do not enhance to search for best rates. FI1=1%, FI2=4.6%. Average=2.8%. Thus, if my investment yields 2.9%, my ego is happy that I am above the average. That's what the average is good for. Mediocracy. Only my opinion, and I was wrong on many issues in my life before many times.

Yes.
Like:

Highest Rate 4.5%
Lowest Rate 2.15%
Average Rate 2.75%

For each column. Not endorsing any FI or rate.
Allows for comparison within eligible FI’s for this site and comparison from unlisted FI’s

It’s up to user to find the high or low.
I feel there is some value for that information. Especially the average.

Just a suggestion using the numbers already there. But if not, it’s ok.

The GIC Chart (list) is short enough that we can quickly Eyeball the High & Low ourselves. And so far, I can't think of a need to know the Average.

It ain't broke ... please Don't fix it. sf-smile

And allows a comparison amongst the few FI’s that some may do business with.
I think that everyone would eventually find it helpful.

Sorting already gives you the answers for Min/max. The avg has no meaning as it all depends on when yo have multiple investments and how much for each. The chart is not static, so the average becomes meaningless the next time there is a change after you make an investment.

I agree, Peter's charts are not broken.

BTW ... For those with Oaken Accounts ...

In Account Summary view, you can click the section headings (Savings: Name, Balance, Avail Balance. GICs: Name, Maturity Date, Mkt Value)

And Up/Dn arrows appear just like Peter's GIC and HISA charts ...

The Hamburger Menu is a real pain. Have to click to the menu, wait for it to populate, pick the next chart, click again... much easier to just click along the old-style header boxes to see the info.

Hey! Thanks for restoring the menu bar! I didn't see anyone else opine on it, but this sure makes me happy!

EDIT: Wait... now the hamburger's back?!

Are you adjusting your browser window width? The burger appears when the browser window is too narrow to display the full menu in its intended font.

Are you zooming your browser in and out? Greater zoom/magnification increases the risk of the burger appearing.

Alternatively, Peter might be able to reduce the number of menu items, menu element/font size ...

Ahh... I do narrow the window one step for easier reading of the really wide lines!
