Hello,

I find that we should add a **** beside EQ Bank in the HISA chart and indicate that you can get favorable interest rates should you adopt the Bonus Interest Offer (3.5%) or the Notice savings Account (2.8% and 3.0%)

Thank you for creating and maintaining this wonderful website.

Here is some more information,

Qualifying for the bonus interest offer is easy to achieve. If you are working just have your salary be deposited to the account. If you are retired have your pension, or OAS and CPP be deposited to the account.

Lacking this important information in the HISA chart is a disservice to the members since many will not even consider EQ bank without this added information.

I think it gets too complicated. For example, others offer compensation for " the hook ", ie; depositing pay/pensions, like Tangerine who will give you $ 250.00 up front for doing the same.

Depending on how much average balances end up being for doing this, it could take a long time to recoup $ 250.00 via the extra interest differential.

My memory's not as sharp as it used to be. Also, my memory's not as
sharp as it used to be.

I believe the same issue holds for Wealthsimple where more interest can be obtained meeting certain criteria that may be more than trivial effort/commitment especially. There is not necessarily a fair and reasonable for all providers without creating a mountain of effort, so best to be silent.

I think the onus is on the individual to do their own research instead of expecting what seems like endless hand-holding and guidance. Often I see people post questions in threads, in which they obviously hadn't bother to read the previous replies, as the answer to their question may have already been posted.

.
The HISA Chart on this site is just meant to post the basic HISAs that each of the listed FIs offer. It's not meant to highlight all the special offers & deals that are also available ... that would make the chart awkward, and hard to manage.

Besides, most of us here are aware of most (if not all) of the special offers & deals available at the FIs listed. And for those of us who may not be aware of them ... it's time to get out your shovel and do some Digging. sf-wink

Trying to accommodate all the various special conditions for every institution will be an exercise in futility, especially since they change at a whim. So many different gimmicks are used by different banks such as minimum account balances, minimum total aggregate balances, direct deposit, etc, ad nauseum.

I do think the EQ Bank, WealthSimple, etc Interest rates should be referenced, but not in the HISA chart. Best place would be a new section called "Conditional Interest RatecOffers" under the "Promos" tab on this site.

Peter - what do you think?

Yes, I was thinking they could just be placed on the Promos page. I don't know if I would split out a separate section on that page at first, but that's an option.
