I don't think Peter had applied the posting limit broadly to everyone as of yet, Bud/dealjunkie/hotmony. I do know it's a rolling 24 hour limit, not based on a 12:01 am-12:00 am cycle. sf-cool

All I can suggest is think consciously about what you're posting. Make constructive use of your posts. Instead of being in an apparent rush to post short tweet length posts and often, think: how can I combine two, three, or even four of those posts into a longer post on one or two similar themes?

Hope that helps,
Doug

Erm, I would argue I'm among the most transparent of users on HIS.ca in that I (a) use my real first name, (b) publish my multiple social media presence on my user profile, and (c) when I discuss investments related to stocks or GICs I hold, I provide the appropriate disclosures. I've never hid behind any pseudonym, so I'm not sure what "mystery" you propose to reveal about me because, quite simply, there is no mystery. LOL

Cheers,
Doug

Bit odd doug you r suggesting the most credible members post the most personal info on a banking forum. On that point I disagree. Its a flaw posters dont want to leave a trail of banking info. My suggestion is let them remain as anonymous as possible for security reasons including regular name changes. Other sensitive forums allow members more leeway on deletions.

I would agree you're a very helpful poster Doug, and not transparent at all. I'm just curious why you would use a pseudonym last name, and just not bother with a last name at all?

I posted time sensitive info today the bcu deal expires tomorrow. The posting limit almost prevented me from posting it today. The people who complain on others are usually self-serving.

Thanks, @Briguy...I assume you meant "not opaque" at all, though. sf-wink

Thanks, @Bud, for bumping this post and reminding me to reply to @Briguy. sf-cool

I was not aware time related post limitations existed, but reflecting on it, I think they are appropriate when applied equitably (doesn't mean equally) to help eliminate a proliferation of spam. It's simply a forum management tool. Surely most members have better things to do than to post relentlessly and furiously?

Worthwhile info providers on the limit list will cherry pick their postings. Doug for example not sure he is listed but i like the service when i need a quick answer. Prolific posters build momentum. I remember a forum a long time ago the mod begged a member to post because he was so funny unrelated to the forum ratings would go up. Only thing u dont want is spammers we can all recognize. Limit should be raised.

Ridiculous just got locked out again as i was about to post a new related deal potentially and a one day extension of another. The lock out period seems to be rolling when one post's time limit has ended can post again

Perhaps Peter could explain/clarify.

Currently, the post limit is user-specific. As I understand it, Peter has coded into the software the ability to apply a governor to one or more users' posts in a given, rolling 24 hour period.

Doug

Yes I meant you are very transparent with all your conflicts of interest listed, your banking work history explained, your home situation clarified, and pretty much everything else as well.

Thanks Doug ... but for full disclosure, it would be best that we heard it directly from the man at the helm: 'Peter'

Yes, certain forum members have a 5-post limit in a rolling 24-hour period.

Thanks Peter ^

For the rest of us, what should one do (or not do), to avoid being subject to that limit ?

Abide by the forum rules 🙂 Other than that, issues are handled on a case by case basis.
