Got another offer for 2.3% today

This deserves its own thread.

This special interest rate offer is available starting on February 3, 2026 and ending on May 31, 2026 at 11:59 pm UTC (the “Offer Period”), by invitation only, to primary account holders of a Simplii Financial™ High Interest Savings Account opened before the Offer Period (an “Eligible HISA”). Account holders must enroll their Eligible HISAs in the offer through online banking or by contacting Simplii Financial.

The special annual interest rate of 2.30% is a combination of regular annual interest rate (“Regular Interest”) and promotional annual interest rate (“Promotional Interest”) set by Simplii Financial. Any change to the Regular Interest will result in a corresponding change to the Promotional Interest so that the overall special annual interest rate will remain 2.30% from the date of enrolment until the end of the Offer Period.

Regular Interest is calculated daily at the current rate applicable to the Eligible HISA balance on each day’s full closing balance. Promotional Interest is calculated daily on each day's closing balance that exceeds the closing balance as at February 1, 2026 (the “Additional Balance”) up to a maximum balance limit of $1,000,000. Eligible HISAs will earn Promotional Interest from the date of enrolment until the end of the Offer Period. Regular Interest and Promotional Interest are paid monthly. For clarity, Promotional Interest is paid within the first two business days following the month in which it was calculated. Promotional Interest will only be paid if the enrolled Eligible HISA is active and in good standing at the time of payment. After the Offer Period, all balances will continue to earn interest at the Regular Interest rate only. For the current regular interest rates, visit our rates page.

This offer is non-transferable and cannot be combined with other promotional rate offers. This offer may be withdrawn, cancelled, or changed without notice, at any time, for any reason. Promotional and regular interest rates are subject to change without notice. Other conditions apply. For the full terms and conditions, review the Simplii Financial February 3, 2026 to May 31, 2026 Promotional Savings Rate Offer 2.30% for Existing HISAs terms and conditions (PDF, 130 KB).

Last time I accepted their offer, wife turned it down, a few weeks later she got a message saying she drives a hard bargain and her new & final offer was half a percent higher.

The last HISA offer that I received from Simplii was in May 2023 at 5%. I thought they would compete for my money as they would have seen large amounts deposited into my Chequing or HISA account and then transferred to other FI's (Tangerine, EQ Bank, Motive and recently WealthOne). I was on a run of 11 promotional offers from Tangerine from February 2021 until September 2025 but have received nothing since.

I just logged in and also got the 3.0% offer. My random Cash is all tied up elsewhere at 4.70% until mid-April, but decided to accept the 3.0 under the 'bird in the hand' saying ...
Whether I use it at all, is too soon to tell.

2.3% for me.
I received a good rate from RBC for a cashable GIG 1 yr @ 2.6%.
Simpii: too little too late. If I would have been offered the 4%, I would have kept the money at Simplii.

2.3% for me, and nothing from Tangerine. Thus, EQ Bank's 2.75% direct deposit rate is still better for me.

2.3% for me as well. I clicked "No thanks" in the pop-up page on login.

Hopefully, Simplii will make a better offer like they did last time.

I can park the money for a bit at

  • 2.3% in Hubert's Happy High-Interest Savings account,
  • 2.35% in EQ Bank's 10-day Notice Savings Account, or
  • 2.75% in EQ Bank's 30-day Notice Account.

"Notice Savings Accounts" - I think this is a gimmick that makes banking at EQ more user unfriendly. Most people do not keep track of "10 days" and "30 days". However, if you are a detailed hands on type with lots of time, then fine.

I have got a 3% offer until May 31st. Did not accept, neither declined.
We will see when my 4.60 offer expires, sometime in April.

2.3% for me. Not accepted. Already have a 4.5%, then fallback 3.75% and 2.8% lowest.

Try again, do better, Simplii.

I won't exceed CDIC limit at EQ so once my one-year gic comes due I'll stick it in very handy 30-day Notice Account, very easy to mark on my wall calendar when the 30 days is up.

There was a catch.

My 3.2% Simplii offer was for new money only. Counted from Feb 1st. I did move money out Jan 31st, but I did it using a “pull” from Wealthsimple. Wealthsimple credited the full balance as soon as I did the “pull”, but Simplii did not zero my balance until the following Monday. Which is why, having returned the funds to Simplii, I’ve been getting next to no interest.

Silly mistake to make; kinda funny. Read the terms carefully, and check your starting balance in the system. Simplii won’t tell it in the email, but you can see it in the app under the details for this particular offer.

I find the Notice accounts quite useful both 10 and 30 days Notice (like a mini GIC) Don't forget the 30 days (or10 days) start when you transfer the funds out, you won't have access to it until the 30 days are up.
