I have a simplii no-fee checking debit...

so I know this is dumb, but I swear I know my pin number but apparently its wrong, or they didn't activate my card when they said they did, I am unable to go to an ATM to reset my pin because I don't know what it is and the automated machine when you call their number is so damn confusing and I don't know where to go to find out of I can get it to reset or get my pin on the phone or something.

Usually, virtual banks and CUs will offer one of three options when you don't know your current debit card PIN:

(1) Mail you a new PIN (sometimes accompanied by a new card); or,
(2) Upon successful verbal authentication, contact centre agent will invalidate your current PIN such that it has no PIN assigned to it and instruct you to either:
(a) Go to a full service company owned and/or operated ATM and use the "Select New PIN" option instead of the "Change PIN" option (in your case, a CIBC ATM); or
(b) Change your PIN over the telephone and instruct you to make a purchase at an Interac Direct Payment terminal in a store whereby the first two times of entering your PIN will produce an error and the third time, the merchant will have you sign a sales slip (as signed proof of the PIN setting, if the bank needs to trace the voucher) and your new PIN will then be set to your card.

Hope you will find an easier way. It happened to me as well. They refused to give me pin over phone.
For you to reset your pin over phone you will need to enter old pin that you forgot.
There is only 1 option that they will mail you the new pin due to security reasons.

... and we all know the mail is totally secure, right? sf-laugh

I've lost two pieces of mail in the last year. ONe was a small package that would have fit in my mail box, the other was a letter.

Tangerine has voice recognition technology now. Why doesn't Simplii?

In my case I never received a pin after I received debit card from them so I had to call them. They told me they can't give me pin over phone but they will mail me a another pin. sf-cool
