OfflineWas on another site and read a post that indicated Flinks was available in the app under Bank-to-Bank Transfers. Checked to see if was also on the desktop, nope. I gave it a test run and got through the process of linking Tangerine, so far so good. In the next step it only gave me the option to transfer funds in or cancel, that failed on two attempts. It did not retain the linked account, hmm, seems a work in progress, or maybe it's intentional.
Thought I would give it another try, this time switching to an Android device. Unfortunately, no luck, same result as the first two attempts on the iPhone. I have a theory that it might require allowing some of the cookies, unlikely though, but you never know.
It's worth noting that Simplii is only allowing one-way transactions for pulling money in. I guess that's the whole point. Sort of like an attempt at being the Hotel California of banking.

OfflineLet me give it a try. What I have observed on some other sites is that the linking is done only after a transfer has been initiated at the end of the linking process, else it does not show up.
Tried Simplii and it is available under Bank-to-Bank Transfer on desktop too. I tried it now and it failed after the last step saying not sufficient information.
Could it be because mine is a joint account? Not sure because it has worked with other institutions.
Tried second time failed.

Hmm, it wasn't on the desktop yesterday when I logged in, it's there today though. I'm getting the impression the addition of Flinks is a very recent development. With that said, the glitches being encountered may dissipate once the system is fully implemented.

OfflineThey may have only added it on mobile. This is frustrating, but they are far from unique in so doing. Frequently, Scotiabank, Tangerine, BMO, and others, add certain account maintenance functions to mobile app only.
Not the end of the world, as one can download the mobile app to link their external bank accounts, then return to the desktop version for regular transfer activities.
Cheers,
Doug

OfflineI was able to successfully use the new Flinks feature to connect to an external bank and initiate a pull transfer. It worked surprisingly well, I would go so far as to say I was impressed. As mentioned previously, it has its limitations, but it's a new tool in the toolbox that may in future come in handy.

I tried it 3 times on different days - it ultimately did not work although it appeared to be working while the connecting process was "in process" but then ultimately it messaged that it could not complete. Would be interesting to know why it could not complete the hooking-up.
Try linking to a different financial institution, my successful attempt worked when I did a test pull from Tangerine.

yes - but I wanted to link with a certain bank account where I have funds which I wanted to move to Simplii to take advantage of their new 2.3% promo.
I was just suggesting it might be a glitch with Flinks and the institution you're trying to pull from. To confirm if that's the case, a test pull from a different bank might explain why you're having trouble. A $1 transfer is sufficient for the test.

OfflineI have just noticed this functionality today. I tried to go through the flinks service to fund one of my accounts and before I get anywhere other than selecting which Simplii account I wish to fund, I am getting the following error:
"We’re sorry
Error message
{Result #6609}
Flinks Funds Transfer is currently unavailable. You can still use Interac e-Transfer® to fund your account."
Is this service down or do I need to enable it in some way beforehand?
Thanks

Your name

Other information that may be required to authenticate you

Not a big deal. Similar information is shared when you perform an Interac e-Transfer or pay with a Visa or MasterCard online. It's all done within a secure, encrypted environment. Most financial institutions also require two-factor authentication, too.
I prefer this, as opposed to the selfie method of ID verification.

I don't think account credentials, balance, or transactions are shared/stored when performing those types of payments.

WOW... how comfortable some get with the idea of sharing ALL your transactional information with a FI that only needs to validate you.... because it is ok to have them know your balance and history? No Thanks.
