Called Tangerine to match Simplii rate, waited nearly 45min for the agent get instructions from manager (felt perhaps it was deliberate to keep me waiting long on the phone as this was a 2nd call), finally got 3.15% for 4 months but want to see my cheque deposited to Tang account right away and won't up date the 3.15% till next Tuesday. A bit annoying hope I don't have to call and beg anymore in the future.

You receive 1.25% on your daily closing balance paid monthly. The other 1.90% you will receive mid March 2019.

I spoke with a rep over 2 weeks ago and requested an email confirmation for the promotional interest ,mainly to see if/when it would arrive. Still waiting...

You people were making me nervous about this, so today I logged into Simplii online chat to ask for email confirmation for myself, since I had recently moved money in there after talking to a phone agent a few days beforehand. The chat agent re-confirmed that I was somehow "automatically" eligible for the 3.15%, but I said I'd feel better if I had a written acknowledgement of that because my Simplii account page doesn't show rates or deals. He said I had to phone in to make that kind of request, because Simplii chat agents don't/can't send out emails. I told him I'd just keep a copy of the transcript of the chat session instead. And yes, now I feel better about it

I spoke to simplii to get the rate and was told that we would receive an email acknowledgement in a few days. When that didn't happen I called back and they implied that my spam filter might have screened our their email acknowledgement for both my wife and myself. I gave them an alternative email addy. No change. Decided to call up Tang and got the 3.15. Moved our money there. Although not a big difference Tang has compounding monthly interest and I can see on my account that I am getting 3.15 until March 14. What is wrong with simplii that they cannot provide a confirmation of the rate they have agreed to? Even a month later I have not received any confirmation from simplii. Who runs a banking business this way? The need a good kick.

Got on Simplii's 3.15% promo, received confirming email and moved just over $44K in during November. Had only a few bucks there before. Aside from the interest on Nov 30, I also got an additional $22.32 via 2 entries also dated Nov 30 for $11.16 each and transaction description reads "Time Transfer Crt to Current" for each. Nothing in my joint account, or for my spouse, who also moved a similar amount to Simplii in November. My spouse isn't buying my explanation that Simplii is just happy to have such a prestigious "influencer" as a client again, I'm wondering if anybody else got this - ?

Well I could not find any form of chat communication available while logged in with Firefox so I contacted them by email yesterday . Their response was that email isn't secure therefore they couldn't confirm via email and I would have to phone them. I feel like Stephen and his Tang experience , moving on

You don't even need to be logged in to use chat, but it speeds things up if you are already logged in to your account when you begin a chat session, because that way they already know who you are and you can skip all the security crap.

When you finish your session, hit print. I prefer to print it to PDF = written record

So I just spoke with a phone rep and asked her about a chat portal on their website and she told me there isn't one and chat is available through Facebook. Surprised to know that people are comfortable using Facebook as a medium to communicate with financial institutions.

Nope, I'm not a Facebook or Twitter or Linked-In user, or the user of any social media for that matter, I think they're all just self-spying tools. FWIW Simplii chat works for me and I'm running an older Firefox clone (Pale Moon 28.1) as a browser. If it doesn't work for you, the only problem I can think of is that since their chat function is java based, maybe you either have java disabled or maybe it's not even installed. Can you use any other FI's chat tools that run on the same platform, like Hubert's chat for instance?

If java isn't the problem, beats me why it doesn't work for you

I think you're right about Java because it's no longer supported in Firefox. Mystery solved , thanks. I share your view of Facebook.
