Except that Tandia @ 2.50% for 5 years, Wealth One @ 2.88%, plus various brokers' rates at 2.60% and 2.65% for 5 years, all not on the chart, but beat that rate. sf-cool Just saying.

At least the rates appear to be going in the right direction, for our purposes.

Today CBC news says annual inflation is now 4.4%.
I would say GIC rates/interest rates in general are way out of sync with inflation.

    For sure!
I think I may hold off on the GIC I was going to buy this week. I don't usually do that sort of thing (i.e. not follow my plan), but this is an unusual situation. I don't think the discrepancy is sustainable, nor do I see inflation melting away any tie soon of its own accord.

There is an article in the Toronto Star today about inflation, interest rates, etc. The opinion is that rates may rise sooner than when the BoC was originally intending, but, of course, all of this is just speculation. Wait or proceed with investments at one's own peril. Of course, as always, hind sight will be 20-20.

    3 Year 2.55%
