Is there a way to link an external account to one of these RBC high interest accounts? I'm asking because it seems that some banks (e.g. Tangerine) allow you to link to external accounts, but some (e.g. CIBC) don't. Thanks.

I haven’t noticed anything so far, so I’m currently using a different bank to transfer funds into RBC instead.

One thing that’s a bit strange is that their online platform doesn’t show any information about the promotional rate, or any rate at all. The customer service rep on the phone just told me to trust that it’s there.

None of the big banks in Canada allow linking to external accounts. That’s why most people who use this forum have accounts with digital financial institutions (like Tangerine) – not only to have access to much higher interest rates but to use them as hubs to push funds to and pull funds from the big banks when required.

A recent inquiry suggests the only way to deposit funds into their esavings is either by a bill payment or an etransfer. They allow for 1 free debit transaction per month, ATM if not mistaken.

The RBC High Interest eSavings Account can receive direct deposits and deposits by ATM. Funds can also be transferred into the account from other RBC chequing and savings accounts.

I was able to link Wealthsimple to RBC through the WS app in just a few minutes. The push from Wealthsimple was sent in the morning, and the funds landed in my RBC account by the afternoon

My comment was for folks who have no other accounts with RBC, but want to avail themselves of the SA offer.
