I could not find any info for 'existing HISA'. Can you provide a link?

Am I missing something? The link refers to the "First" HISA.

Earn 4.70% interestlegal bug 9, legal bug 10 for 3 Months when you open your first RBC High Interest eSavings account.

I already have a HISA and am looking for the "Existing HISA".

I think for existing e-Savings account holders, the only offers they will receive are targeted. I've yet to see one offered to the general public.

Existing eSavings account holders may never receive such a subsequent offer.

It has been years since I opened my first RBC eSavings account in response to one of their first-eSavings-account offers. RBC has yet to send me a subsequent offer for the account.

RBC does not seem to be like Manulife Bank, Simplii, or Tangerine with subsequent savings account offers.

Can you close your eSavings account? Would that work or do you have to wait 7-100-never years to be eligible again?

Won't work. One is not an eligible client for the offer if one has ever been the primary owner of an eSavings account before:

“Eligible Client(s)” means a client who:

a. Is a resident of Canada and of the age of majority in the province or territory in which they reside as of the date the Eligible eSavings Account is opened. …; and

b. Has not been the Primary Owner of an RBC High Interest eSavings Account at any time before the beginning of the Qualifying Period;

If one has only ever had a foreign currency ($USD, $EUR, etc) RBC savings account, is that also grounds for disqualification?

The offer link comes up when you sign out of RBC online banking and is part of the FAQ page, so not targeted. . It clearly states "existing" . https://www.rbcroyalbank.com/dms/campaign/nmo/olb/index-l.html

It also says it's targeted, unfortunately for me...

..."The Spring 2025 3.45% eSavings Bonus Offer (the “Offer”) is only available to existing clients of Royal Bank of Canada (the “Bank”) who are notified of their eligibility for the Offer by email directly from the Bank and/or when they log in to RBC Online Banking (“Eligible Clients”). This Offer is particular to the Eligible Client to whom it was presented by the Bank, and may not be transferred to or shared with any other party...." https://www.rbcroyalbank.com/dms/campaign/nmo/olb/index-l.html

I didn't receive any e-mail from RBC about that offer.

No link to the offer when I sign into or sign out of online banking. The "Frequently Asked Questions" block on the "You've Signed Out" page doesn't have a link to that offer for me.

I don't think I have the offer either.

It would be interesting to see what would happen if someone that's not eligible is brave enough to deposit $100 into their existing e-Savings account to see if they get the promo interest? I'm not entirely convinced RBC has added something to the profiles of those targeted to generate the promotional interest, then again, it's probably not technologically hard to do.

If I pull fund from this savings account to another institution, i e. Initialize the withdrawal from another institution, is there a fee? It's not clear from its fee structure.

Yes, there's a fee, you only get one free ATM withdrawal per month. In order to avoid a fee when withdrawing using a pull from another financial institution, open a free no fee ' Day to Day ' savings account. Once open, do a free transfer from the e-Savings account to the Day to Day. The Day to Day has one free debit withdrawal per month, so you can do a free pull from that account.

The number of people resident in Canada who have never had an account with RBC must be tiny.

RBC has around 17% of the demand deposit market in Canada. So, lots of people never had a chequing or savings account with RBC.

The market is divided. The largest market share is held by TD, with around 19% market share.

It will be $5 for any debits/withdrawals from the RBC eSavings account other than transfers to other RBC accounts and the one free ATM withdrawal each month.

The RBC eSavings account is intended to be an addition to one's other RBC chequing or savings accounts.
