Yas,

I've had the same issues as well trying to apply for the Amazon Visa. I received a free credit check from TransUnion yet it contained no information about flags on my account.

Has anyone else that has been affected by these flags had them successfully removed? How so? And did you have to deal with any fraudulent activity?

My application for Amazon Visa was declined and the only reason I can think of is this red flag. Anyone had any similar experience? I emailed PT to get the flag removed from my account before re-applying for the credit card. Should I contact Equifax and Transunion myself and get the flag removed?

PT may not be the reason you were declined. Chase seems to have some criteria that are hard to understand. There is a long thread about this somewhere; I'm fairly sure it is at redflagdeals. People there seemed to find it worthwhile to reapply after a little while without necessarily changing any obvious factors. Perhaps you've had too many hits lately if you've been opening new bank accounts etc.?
I think that their system for anyone whose identity may be in question is to postpone a decision on the application until they contact you by phone, at least that's what I think I read a while ago on redflagdeals.

I received the People's Trust warning letter. I got an Amazon Visa card last year without having any flags removed.

Well, I was correct. I called Chase, they asked some security questions to confirm my identity and instantly approved the card with a limit better than what I expected.

So, it seems instead of them calling to confirm the identity upon seeing the red flag, they just decided to reject the application without even saying to contact them for any questions. I am glad I called. Now, I can enjoy no 0% exchange rate.

Thanks for everyone's reply.

It's very sloppy of them to reject you when what they really meant was to put you on hold.
But I'm glad you persevered!

So has PT fixed their system? I was planning on using the TFSA savings. I know it must be a very tedious and expensive project to keep all holes plugged and continually keep upgrading their system.

Yas, good to hear you can get your credit card.

It seems like this is the situation for me too, I should have call them later on and see can I get the card again.

I think they fixed it long time ago. I don't have a security concern as I still have my previous years TFSA with them. However, I am not going to contribute more due to their new reduced interest rate of 2.5%.

Thanks, yes I am glad I could get the credit card specially with the value of Canadian Dollar, paying an extra 2.5% for exchange rate is a pain.

Yes, it is a good idea to call. I mean it doesn't hurt and there is no long waiting time (probably less than 5 minutes). But, for reconsideration, I think you need to call within 30 days of applying.

Yes going down to 2 5%.,,,not good. BUT 2.5 is the average 3 year GIC rate and have liquidity to your funds.

I noticed the flag when I ran a credit report recently.. Here is the snippet from the online version I obtained..

Special Services
SPS-SpecialServices/CodeDescription: Lost or stolen wallet or identification
Date Reported: 2013-11

So sometime during November 2013 they placed flags as indicated in letter.

I just want to ask how quickly did the card arrive at your mail box?

I haven't received the card yet but they added it automatically to my Amazon account.

That's the thing I am worry about..... I donlt want to be charge interest because I use it before I have the ability to pay it on my online banking as I need the card number to do so.

I guess I will wait for the physical card to arrive first.

Yes, even though I have it added to my account, I am not using it pending the physical card arrival. Canada Post seems to be so slow these days. Maybe due to weather condition.
