Anyone with a PT TFSA is pretty much stuck with whatever they want to do until December when you can just withdraw and wait a month to go elsewhere. That's because either you pay a fee to transfer out, which cancels any interest improvement for months to come, and more, or you get out of tax sheltering until January.

Canadian Tire Financial did this mid year rate reduction for no good reason 2 years in a row. It caused so many complaints in year one, the next year they said in big letters on their site "This Is Not A Promotional Rate"! I fell for it. Then they did it again, dropped the rate 3 months later when nobody else did. We live and learn, but also remember.

The main accomplishment of almost all organized protests is to
annoy people who are not in them.

I stand corrected. PT is one of the few who don't charge transfer out fees. " Peoples Trust Company does not charge any fee to transfer TFSA’s to or from another Financial Institution".

Peoples does not charge transfer fees. They say so in their description of their TFSA programme. [crossed posts with previous poster]
