.
Not surprising ⬆️

Peoples (both of them) have been Down near the Bottom of The Chart for quite some time now.

As my GIC's come due they are being transferred out or cashed out & removed. New GIC's are purchased through Scrivens Brokerage in Ottawa. Best rates & great service. 1 more due with Hubert & they are toast as well.

I cashed out my People's GIC's at 5.4% and 5.6% when they came due early this year.

Working with a deposit broker in Vancouver has been a mixed experience. I keep hoping for better online rates because it's so much easier to move money into most of those FIs than to deal with the deposit broker I found here.

Edit by admin: a thread about GIC broker experiences was split off from here

When Peoples 30 day GIC rate became lower than the HISA rate, I began to evacuate a good 80% of my funds. A clear message to say, "we don't do 30 GIC's any more". When I called in to collapse all of them the CSR was surprised that the 30 day rate was lower than the HISA rate.

And looking here, most of us aren't sitting it out....we are moving out!!!

I need a good alternative in BC. Any recommendations?
