Issues x 2
Any point to complain?
To who?
Will it impact on future transactions?

I have been a customer at Peoples for several years & never ever had a problem with their service.Never been on hold for very long & when I get a rep they have always sorted out whatever I called about.

Same here, semi-retired.

Could "Blake" please post coherent details explaining what if anything you are talking about? Without which at face value its spam/troll/working for some other FI and trying to influence diversion of funds - not nice.

Sorry to say that, but its logic from what we see, and there's absolutely nothing to suggest otherwise. sf-frown

It's interesting to note that after All this time, Mr. Blake (the OP) has never responded to the request in Post #3 .

Getting the same problems as Blake. Been calling for days on end and only get their stupid answering machine. Left over 10 messages for call return. Never get anything. After waiting endless hours on hold, the machine just throws you off. What abysmal phone etiquette. Now I remember why I try to avoid them, whenever possible. Unfortunately, I am out of other options. sf-yell

they have a call back feature. I can attest they do call you back and most of the time within the same day when I used it.

I just tried both, was waiting on hold for 10 min both ways. I left a call back number. After seeing this level of service, which is much worse than in the past, I'm going to close my account once they phone me back.

Originally I opened an account because of the free transfers of registered accounts, but Hubert and Achieva have that feature too.

I used the 1-800

If it were not for the fact that their 2-yr 5.4% GIC is so far superior to all other offerings, I would just go elsewhere.

I just began the process of opening a 2 year GIC at 5.4%. I'm wondering whether I shall need to call in or not? So far everything went smoothly through their online portal.

I am also fortunate enough to live close to their Dunsmuir St. physical location. I could always walk over there if I need to deal with some problem.

Third day and still no response.

I hope that my luck will be as good as Rail Baron's, with the portal.

Doesn't Achieva charge a service fee?
https://www.achieva.mb.ca/service-fees

RRSP/RRIF/TFSA Payout
$275/hour (1 hour minimum)

Isn't a transfer out construed as a payout?

I think a payout is different. Achieva is listed in our chart ( along with Hubert and Oaken and Peoples Trust) as having zero RRSP/TFSA transfer out fees.

By the way, Peoples Trust never called me back yesterday, so I will call them again today and just wait, and see how long it takes for them to come to phone.

I tried calling Peoples Trust today again, since I never got a call back. After 18 min remaining on hold it asked me to leave a call back message. So there is actually NO way of reaching anyone live at the moment, since they don't answer the phone within the time frame allotted to being on hold.

I also filled out the contact form for Peoples Trust on their website, asking for a call back.

I value my time too much to be dealing with such a poorly run institution, so I will be definitely be closing my account when I am actually able to talk to a live person.

Despite calling and leaving messages, and leaving contact message at the portal, still haven't heard back. For anyone interested in complaining if Peoples doesn't eventually get back to you, here's their contact info:

Sorry to hear that. I called them 2 days ago and on both occasion I was able to get a callback within 1h and 3h respectively. Maybe I got lucky but it is also true they seem to be very thinly staffed.

On the other hand, when I had to call Meridian, I am able to speak to a real person within a few minutes. Guess size matters !

It took 2 days, but they finally called me back just now and are going to close my account for me, and transfer the remaining money to my linked bank.

You are correct. I called Achieva and they explained that normal transfers for registered accounts have no fee. The Payout fee is for 'complicated or complex' situations, often involving estates.

Left two more messages with Peoples. Still nothing.

@HermanH thanks for checking with Achieva !

@semi-retired , I've noticed a real drop in service level in businesses with WFH employees.

The main pages for PT says:
Telephone Hours:
Monday – Friday
5:00am - 4:30pm PT
