I was moved over from Implicity to Outlook. On June 30th I was charged fee for a maintenance service charge. Is this something that Outlook charges monthly? I couldn't seem to find anything on Outlook's website about it. I called and it took 50 minutes to talk to a customer service agent. Implicity always only took a few minutes. The agent said the fee was "a fee to maintain service". What kind of a response is that? The merger from Implicity to Outlook was a nightmare and now if Outlook is charging a monthly fee this will be the final nail in the coffin and it will be time to find a new HISA.

So I'm wondering if Outlook member get charged this monthly "maintenance service charge"

Thanks

YUP!!! You just went steps backwards. Outlook service is pure crap, in my opinion.
I left them years ago:
70% of GIC initial set ups were screwed up or missed from day 1 (<= great first impressions sf-surprised)
First point of contact could have cared less
First point of contact often had heavy accents making the conversation pointless as they did not understand.
Eventually I had the VP of Outlook take care of all errors and continued to use his help over the years...so what does that tell you?
TFSA GIC's did not hit CRA records and was a constant battle to get them to resubmit to correct.
Phone system sucks.....will ring and ring and then hang up on you. Or will ring and ring and be on hold and hang up on you.
Also was charged $1 for DING FREE deposits....had to call for refund.

I found Outlook fees here. The first part lists the $1 fees.

I found Assiniboine CU fees here.
https://www.acu.ca/media/1727/acu-service-fees.pdf

I too was very happy with Implicity and with Tara (<= I hope that is right) and all others as well but due to the merger and my position at the time, of no GIC's at Implicity, I left Implicity for the sole reason of who they were merging with.

I don't recall a service charge from Outlook...was it an inactivity service charge? If it is or continues to be....I would be complaining!!! The whole idea for me and others is to invest for the higher rates and hold funds there for better savings account rates. Then use a more local, to you, bank or credit union for your day to day stuff. Thus not much activity at Outlook or Implicity. <= Is that how you see it??

Not happy with your Outlook response.....ask for a manager or email and ask for a response from a manager. You deserve a correct answer and a reason why. And those differences should have been emailed to you as an update to how the merger will affect you. But I guess it was all gushy with red roses and warm polished carefully chosen words.

Just a bit off track. I am not looking forward to the Hubert merger with Accelerate. In my opinion Hubert is hands down better than Accelerate for extra fees. You have to watch Accelerate as they will follow Access rules and fees as will Hubert. Right now if you don't use your ATM card often enough at Accelerate they will not re-issue a new one at expiry. So like a lot of families either the husband or wife does all the banking. And what if that banker dies....the survivor has no ATM card? What if the non banker is out of town and needs $300.....no ATM card. For what ever savings they see is BS....it is an inconvenience and a nail in the coffin as you say! We are older, retired for many years and are tech savvy. But I don't want to cash a cheque with an app on my phone.....I want to transfer (not eTransfer) free of charge or deposit a cheque to Accelerate and hopefully Hubert using an ATM card!!!!

Accelerate has 1 free withdrawal a month. But can you believe this...a CRA payment is not considered a withdrawal....and costs $1.

I have thousands of dollars each at both Accelerate and Hubert and will reconsider where I put all GIC's in the future but will use them for what they may be useful for me and me only....as far as loyalty goes...forget that. Right now the only GIC that will remain will be RRIF....but if Oaken can tell me now to pull out more that the mandatory amount.....I might keep them at Oaken....."the place with no savings accounts for registered funds".

What I say....know what there rules are that affect you....is there a work around....and use them for your needs if that is acceptable to you.
What you are saying......is same as it was years ago and no improvement.

Going big appears to have a negative affect on us, doesn't it?
