Got an email today.

Please note that effective today (Tuesday, April 3, 2018), we have increased the interest rate for our 1 Year Cashable After 90 Days GIC to 2.30% (previously 1.90%).

This new rate will be applied automatically for all corresponding GICs booked on March 26, 2018 or later.

All other Oaken rates remain unchanged.

The rates shown below are effective from Tuesday, April 3, 2018.

The 2.3% 1 YR CASHABLE GIC ( after 90 days) looks like a good alternative for folks who have maxed out their EQ Bank Savings account @2.3% ( $100K CDIC coverage) and want to park additional funds for the short term ..... for future investment this year.

Just another option ! sf-cool

t's also competitive with Hubert's one year cashable.
Hubert's pays more, but you only get the best deal if you cash it on quarterly dates. For the first 3 months, the offers are identical except that you could, if you wanted, get your money out without interest from Hubert in that time period.
