Maybe it was my spelling mistake.
In any event, wouldn't F..... be a fintech?
Seems to me that one has to give over ones login info for linked FI, or did I mis-read it?

For Flinks, yes, one has to give Flinks one's online banking login info.

According to their FAQ, Oaken still has the less-risky void cheque method:

Are there other ways to link my accounts?

Yes, you can link an external account by sending a written request, along with a void cheque from your other financial institution, to Oaken Financial, 145 King Street West, … M5H 1J8. This void cheque must contain your name, your financial institution’s information, and your account details.

Are you saying you couldn't, for example, have EQ establish a link to Oaken?

That's correct.

Thanks, Norman.
Good to know one doesn't have to give one's private info to Flinks - whoever they are.

Hmm. Is there enough value in Oaken Online to make up for that significant limitation?

EQ Bank also used void cheques and microdeposits. None of my external account links at EQ Bank were done using Flinks.

That was in the past. Now you have to go through FLinks for EQ. I'm not happy about that. All my past links were done prior to this change too.

Linking accounts using microdeposits is still available at EQ Bank.

I used it not so long ago to add a link at EQ Bank to a Wyth account.
