Oaken is definitely down and out today. This is a very good strategy on their part to prevent people from buying the Promo (ending today Feb 2) 5.39% 18 month GIC.
The site will probably be working just perfectly tomorrow.

I can confirm both for the app and online both though firefox and chrome it has been down for the last two days. Honestly, very disappointing that this is / has happened. And now, Oaken is not even the highest interest rate that is available (across the country) now. Both Achieva and Accelrate both have the same rate as oaken. And I have had nothing but good experience opening accounts at both (when the rate was 3.25%) I liked oaken because it was backed by home trust and home company and how you can get protection of $200,000 with its special feature.

But the pessimistic side of me wants me to believe this is almost on purpose both to avoid the special GIC rate but also a precursor to smith financial corporation shutting down oaken permanently. I hope I am wrong, but if that happens I would not be sad about it, as I had better experience at the manitoba credit unions for now the same rate. We will see what comes next I guess

Update: 8:31PM I could login now and currently in my account. So hopefully it is not working for everyone

I remember a version of Windows did something similar in that it would schedule its own updates, regardless of whether or not the user wanted to do so at the time. It could have been in the middle of the business day or whenever was convenient for Microsoft. I don't remember the version or whether or not it was changed.

Looks like Oaken Digital is back.
