Does everyone get the 35 for simply signing up an acct at motus or does the sign up have to go thru a certain link? Is the 35 bucks deposited instantly?

You have to go through the link on the cash back site. Otherwise, no, you don't get the cash back. The offer is not from motusbank directly. It usually takes a few weeks after opening and then you get an Interac e-Transfer for $35.

Where is that cashback link located and how does one get notified about the availability of this or other similar promos?

Can you tell us who is the intermediary?
I like to know with whom I am sharing all my personal information and what they are doing with it.
Thx.

Sorry, this only came out on Wednesday. Your information is not shared with an intermediary. The click is tracked with an anonymous ID and the cash back site is just an extension of this site and the account you have here.

The cash back site is purposely subtle on this site because I want to keep this site fully independent and not corrupted.

Thanks, Peter.
Perhaps, in future, when there is a new offer of this type, you could post it as an alert in the appropriate forum?

Thanks to hotmony for pointing it out.

Excuse me, but I find it odd that the owner of this site is paying us to open a motus account, or am I misunderstanding?

It's not odd as Peter does find ways to derive a bit of revenue to fund the site's operating (i.e., hosting/bandwidth) costs, but I would be curious to know the affinity partner that Peter is using for this offer and the compensation structure between him and the third-party referral partner. I think that would be helpful as I definitely favour full disclosure of such relationships and I know Peter does as well as he values editorial independence for the site. So, it is a worthwhile question that you've asked, and I hope I've provided some clarification for you. sf-cool

Cheers,
Doug

I am considering writing a longer introduction article, but: yes, I am trying to make money, in ways that provide value to visitors, without compromising the integrity and independence of this site.

I think that's completely fine, Peter, to do. I would just recommend maybe having a "Disclosures" page that shows any affinity relationships that you or highinterestsavings.ca has. sf-cool

Peter's actually giving a good rebate- if you sign up through Great Canadian Rebate you only get 30.00 cash back, vs 35.00 through this site.

Yes, that's fine. Like I said, I have no issue with this, but he's not the one giving out the promotion. He's using a third-party partner, and that's what I'd like him to disclose on a "disclosures" page.

I have no issue with the site deriving revenue from referral relationships and affinity partnerships, but should be disclosed. I'm sure Peter agrees with that.

Cheers,
Doug

I don't think so, it's not an interest payment from the bank. When you complete the offer, a few weeks later you'll receive an e-Transfer for the cash back. Unless you have autodeposit set up, it needs to be deposited manually.
