After a 3 day shut down, CDF announces that the transition to a new system is complete. Switching systems is never a problem free process, and there is a learning curve as the staff familiarizes themselves, that is to be expected I guess. That being said, not too pleased from a personal standpoint so far. Had high hopes that log in access would streamlined and accounts combined under one access number as advertised, but it's actually worse. Used to have separate log in for my registered accounts, wife's registered accounts and joint accounts. Now we have 4 access numbers that log us in, each showing different options for transferring to/from different accounts. Were supposed to be consolidated under the new log in using the debit card, but they couldn't make that happen, for me anyway, so I have to use the access number they claimed they mailed me, but I never received. Even their web site says you will get an access number in the mail if you don't have a debit card. When they did consolidate them, I log on and see all my accounts but am restricted on which ones appear in the drop down boxes to transfer funds or pay bills, hence cut and paste account numbers for internal transfers. My linked account to CC shows up when I log in to my registered account number, which I don't really want to pay bills out of or transfer to/from CC with. My Checking account wasn't an option to pay any of the bill payees that transferred over to the new site. Could pay them out of my TFSA savings account though. They did fix it after I phoned, but now have CC appearing under both log in numbers. Wife never received another access number either, so she phoned up to have them consolidated under one number, the system automatically resets the password and the one the CSR gave us, or the old one, doesn't work she now is locked out of all her accounts until we phone back and wait on hold AGAIN to have it fixed. Another bug is overdraft protection. I Schedule bill payments on payday, and the payments usually come out before the paycheck goes in. Never used to be a problem. Overdraft, which is now listed as a separate account, covered it, paycheck was in by days end so no charge. Last payday, instead of taking it out of the overdraft account, they sucked it out of my savings account until it was empty THEN took the rest out of the overdraft account, transferred the funds BACK into the overdraft account when the paycheck went in, but not the savings, so at the end of the day my savings account was empty and my checking had too much in it. *sigh*. Not happy and no guarantee if/when it will be addressed. Minor issue according to CSR so not high on priority list. BTW, transfers to/from the new overdraft account are now transactions, so just a little extra work if you want to keep track accurately of all the movement of cash in/out of your checking, overdraft and I guess your savings account. We also have a year to have all our linked accounts at other institutions and company payroll changed over to the new account numbers. Currently, their web site says "Transfers between CDF and other financial institutions are temporarily unavailable. We have identified the issue and are working diligently to restore service. In the meantime, email transfers are available for transactions up to $3,000. Thank you for your patience". Hmmmm. Hopefully these are just hiccups and the whole thing will get straightened out eventually On the up side, recurring bill payments are now available, and, like I said, you can now do internal transfers by entering the account number in the correct field. As always the CSR's are friendly, helpful and courteous, even if I'm not after several attempts at getting through and spending my lunch break on hold. Am curious as to whether a new customers would also have 2 access numbers each or they could manage consolidating registered/non-registered accounts with just one. Most other banks seems to manage it. So far, seems more like a lateral move than an "upgrade". They could have done so much more to make banking with them easier.

Hi Rick,
I also did not have the smoothest "transition" with CDF - although I had nowhere near the number of issues you had. I only have a personal savings account and joint savings account with CDF and was always annoyed that I had to log in separately to view each account. I received both new PAN numbers in the mail and was able to log in to view my accounts. I called CDF to get the two accounts consolidated into a single login. The CSR was also friendly but explained that it could take up to a week for the two accounts to be "connected". When I subsequently checked, I was denied access to my accounts. Yikes! I had to phone in and receive a new password - this little detail was not mentioned by the CSR. Also had a bit of finagling to obtain access to transactions prior to the implementation of the new system as my accounts do not have statements. The other oddity is that both PANs are still valid even though one now has both accounts on it. I suggested the PAN with only one account on it be deleted or cancelled but apparently that is not an option. Seems rather inefficient to me. Thanks for the heads up on the transfer situation with other FIs - this issue had better be very temporary as a $3,000 limit is not going to cut it for me.

MG - I believe the transfers to other institutions applies to the out-going transfers. I have had funds "pushed" out of Tang into CDF that went through no problem. The most annoying thing is having 2 PAN's per account. You have to log in using the proper one depending on which account you want to transfer funds out of. I also have a personal savings, so if I want to move funds out I have to log in using that PAN while out joint accounts use the other PAN. Why oh why so complicated?
