Tried opening an account online. 10 days later - no reply. Called - was told takes 2 weeks. A month later, no reply. Called again and had to pull teeth to get an answer why it could not be opened: identity could not be verified due to Equifax. Tangerine verified remotely through a post office, but Motive does not do that. NOT EVEN THE COURTESY TO REPLY TO POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS. Moving on...Any "easy" FI with decent rates?

As far as I know, EQ is one of the easier ones. Many are becoming more difficult. Motive is the slowest - even if you are approved - from what I can tell.

I like Motive but, speaking of 19th century, the March online statement is still not available. I thought computers did this stuff automatically pretty much right away.

I don't think they reply to emails either. About a month ago I sent two separate emails. One for the first book of 50 cheques free and one to set up a link to external account for transferring large amounts of money I couldn't otherwise etransfer between my own accounts. Both of them required forms to fill out, sign and scan to email to them. No reply received yet. Don't see my external account linked. No cheques received either 🙁

Why don't you phone them?

Whenever I've called them for assistance, they've always been helpful (and friendly).

Phoning has always been successful for me too; helpful, efficient and immediate resolution to my inquiry.

When you have decent money there they treat you seriously.

I get personal emails from them, I respond back and say please swap out my chequing account with another type and it gets done.

Link to another bank takes too long, I respond to same email and its done pronto.
